Dame Myra Hess Concerts


Chenxing Huang, piano



Her upcoming season will bring her to concert stages in Chicago, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, New York, Paris, Canada, Portugal, and China, but before that, Chenxing Huang will appear on CMC's Dame Myra Hess Series. Romanticism, via Debusssy, a personal journey with religion and suffering via Liszt, and a modern work that many consider to be a ideal combination of West and East - the qualities of the Western instrument - the piano, with characteristics of Chinese - East - Beijing opera.

Brooding melancholy and passionate sentimentalism abound in this concert performed by Louisiana-born cellist John-Henry Crawford, lauded for his “polished charisma” and “singing sound” (Philadelphia Inquirer) and Filipino-American pianist Victor Asuncion (praised for his "poised and imaginative playing,” (The Washington Post).
