Changes in the Administration Office
Our Assistant Principal, Kate Newfield, will be returning from maternity leave at the beginning of March, joining Principal Katie Blasetti on the New Heights school administration team.
Kim Brocanier returned to New Heights last February to cover the Assistant Principal role for Kate’s leave. As a familiar face for so many of our staff, students and families, and as someone who understands and believes in the New Heights community and culture, we are so grateful for Kim for stepping in for these months, making it as seamless a transition as possible.

Kim will be onsite through the beginning of March as Kate transitions back. After March Kim will be off on her next adventure. We will miss her, but are excited for her next endeavours. And we know that she will be back to visit often.
Science Fair 2022
On March 16th we will be watching our virtual New Heights Science Fair 2022.

Here’s how it will work this year:

Step 1: On or before March 4th, bring your idea and planning sheet to the school.

Step 2: On or before March 11th, film your demonstration and presentation and upload it to Google Drive.

New Heights will edit all the videos together and create a private listing on YouTube of the Science Fair for all of New Heights to see. The video will premiere live on March 16th.

For any questions, email info@newheightscalgary.com.
2022-2023 Calendars
Our 2022-2023 calendar for Kindergarten to Grade 12 is now posted on our website.

You can find it here.
Way to Go!
Each month at our virtual assembly, there is a Way to Go! draw. To be entered, students have to be “caught” going above and beyond for others.

Some examples of this might be: helping out another student to solve a problem, holding the door for others on the way outside, or letting someone else have a turn on a favorite game.

Teachers fill out a ticket for the students to drop off in the jar in the office, and each month, Mr Williams and Mrs Brocanier pull a ticket from the jar during the assembly. At the end of the year, all the tickets are put back in the jar for a final mega-draw at the end of June.

The winner of the Way to Go! draw in February was Macsen from Copper Mountain.
Extra Masks
The latest shipment of the Alberta Education supply of medical student masks has arrived at the same time as the province has mandated choice of masking for students.

We have an abundance of medical masks in the small size and regular size still available.

If you would like a pack of 20 medical masks for your student, please send a note to info@newheightscalgary.com and let us know.

The masks will be given on a first asked, first served basis until they are gone.
Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey
Alberta Education is conducting their 2021-2022 Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey starting this week. Over the next month, parents and guardians of students in Grades 4 to 12 may receive survey information in the mail from Alberta Education. This information will include links and a code to complete the survey online.

The results of the Assurance Survey give New Heights and Alberta Education information and evidence about the quality of your child’s education. It informs goals and plans for improvement, as well as celebrates the areas that are done well.

Alberta Education will be conducting their annual Assurance Survey until March 25th, 2022.

Survey results are made available to school authorities, and will inform our New Heights Education Plan as well as be reported in our Annual Education Results Report.
