Here we are - it's Fall!

Here in New England, nearly everyone loves the fall season.  Today, the first day of October, seems a good time to celebrate the wonders of nature.

I am actually traveling this weekend so will not be doing a live radio program.  Instead, my program from LAST October with Dr. Gene Clerkin - The Covid Chronicles!  Gene is a gifted musician/singer/songwriter.

The Chronicles artistically express Gene's response to the lockdowns two years ago and continue ring out a clear and sober warning for today and tomorrow.

Today at Noon, EST, just after the top of the news:

Health bennies of root vegetables - Wondrous "ROOTS!"

What's different about root vegetables...

The nutritional benefits of root vegetables are underrated. One reason is that this whole category of plant foods sometimes gets whittled down to just potatoes, onions and carrots. But there are so many root vegetables with much to offer:

  • Tubers, corms, and rhizomes, strange words for a class of root veggies that includes potatoes and yams, water chestnut, turmeric and ginger
  • Bulbs, which include onions, garlic, fennel, Jerusalem artichokes and shallots
  • “True” roots, such as carrots, parsnips, beets, radishes, jicama, turnips and sweet potato
