Thank you for leading us in worship in this way!
Our new front doors are in!
Last year, we committed to replacing our historic, and aging, front doors with safer, sturdier doors that still complemented the architecture of our building.

This past week, those new, custom built doors were installed! We are excited to welcome many more people through these doors in the years to come, and we give thanks for your support that made this improvement possible!

We especially thank Kathy Schwandt, Karen Warmoth, and Nora Sliney for their work in making this door project possible.

Here are some photos of the before, during, and after of this exciting project.
Before: These doors are, we believe, the original set, making them nearly 100 years old! They have served us well, but the hardware mechanisms were beginning to fail and the wear of a century of use and weather was visible.
Before: From the inside, you can see the outside! As the wood aged, it began to shrink, and crevices appeared between the bead boards. Light also shone between and under the doors.

While it was a bit comical to see through wooden doors, this wasn't great for keeping the weather out! Additionally, these doors swung inward, which was a safety hazard.

We have kept these historic doors and hardware for a future (yet to be determined) purpose.
During: The old doors were removed and the new doors were fitted to the archway - the fitting took hours!
For a short time, there was even MORE sunlight visible through the doors!
After: The doors now swing safely outward and hook onto hinges to stay open when needed.
After: These doors are 2 inch white oak, which should stand sturdy for at least 75 years! The detail work is carved on the surface, so panels won't shrink apart in years to come.

The non-handle door uses sliding surface locks on top and bottom, which are much more durable than in-door floor and ceiling locks.
After: Our front doors are the same bright red they've always been!

The hardware, while not an exact match to the former doors, echoes the previous style, and will only become more beautiful with wear. The lever handles themselves, inside and outside, should be much more accessible.

These new doors are more than a physical upgrade. They are a visual reminder of our commitment to welcoming God's people to Grace!
Thank you again for your generosity and support which allowed us to make this physical improvement. These doors will welcome God's people for decades!
Get to know our new members!

2022 Lenten Soup Recipes Cookbooklet

Our Lenten Soup suppers were outstanding! The fellowship, table discussions with thoughtful guidance, and the SOUPS! It was delightful to see everyone peruse the line to see “Which soup am I going to have first!” Indeed, many had seconds and possibly thirds! It was so wonderful to enjoy the Lenten soup suppers together, again. We shared soup prior to the central purpose of the evening, the Lenten Worship with Holden Evening Prayer: a time of silence, hearing the Gospel read, and singing.

We are so thankful to all the committee members that contributed their soups, bread, and tea!

Let’s share these wonderful soup recipes! We'd like to make a Grace Lenten Soup Cookbooklet! This will be an “in-house” production, a free mini-cookbook dedicated to the soups we've loved and the connections we've shared this season.
If you provided soup this year, please send your recipe to Frances Stockley by clicking here. If you have a short story/ description/ comment to share about your soup, we'd love to include it. If you prefer, leave a paper copy in the Stewardship box at church.

Questions? Call Frances at 864-326-6587. Deadline to submit is April 30th. Our goal is to have it available by end of May!
Seniors@Grace
Please mark your calendars for Thursday April 28, 2022. We will be in the Grace Fellowship Hall for our next event. We will gather at 11:30 am and have lunch at noon. Come and enjoy a salad and sandwich bar buffet of treats and a visit from the folks who run the Hope Food Pantry with a small army of volunteers that include a number of Grace friends.
Gordon Bell with his wife (Sally) and daughter (Rachel) will share with us the inner workings of the services that help food insecure families in Rock Hill. I think you will find their presentation informative and heartfelt.
We will also be treated to another round of music and singing with Monty Bennett and hopefully another slice of his homemade pound cake.

If you have any questions or want to reserve your seat for April 28, please give Annie Laurie a call (803) 517-0626 (cell) or (803) 980-1834 (home phone) or email wheatannielaurie@gmail.com by April 26.
See you soon! Looking forward to seeing everyone.
