Grieving with Uvalde, Texas
Dear Community,

The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio (DCNEO) continues to grieve this tragic loss of life following the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas earlier this week. As an organization often working alongside students and educators, our hearts go out to the victims of this senseless act of violence, their families, and their communities.

Our staff and community partners remain committed to eliminating bias, bigotry, racism, and all forms of hatred. This work is vital – now, more than ever – and often our mental well-being is challenged as we support our youth with heavy hearts. We at Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio encourage you to seek help if you are feeling overwhelmed. The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio will provide support for participants in our programs as they grapple with these recent senseless and horrific acts of violence.

Bernice King, CEO of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, reminds us of this relevant quote from political activist and scholar Angela Davis:

“I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”

Your support is needed and wanted to help build communities where all people are connected, respected, and valued. Learn how you can join The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio to end hatred, bigotry, and racism by visiting our website www.diversitycenterneo.org. Your voice matters!
