Advocacy and Issues Forum – Minnesota Taxation Changes and Proposals
Join us April 6 to hear about what is being proposed and what has already passed this Legislative Session regarding both tax increases and reductions from three experts in this field. This is your chance to hear about the potential changes coming as well as ask your burning questions. We will hear from Mark Haveman (Executive Director, Minnesota Center for Fiscal Excellence), John Reynolds (Minnesota State Director, National Federation of Independent Businesses), and Nan Madden (Director of the Minnesota Budget Project).
This forum will cover the budget surplus, the Governor's budget and its impacts on taxes, issues that may result in raised taxes including Capital Gains Tax changes, 24-week paid leave mandate and 5th Tier Income Tax, and where we currently are in the Legislative Cycle.

Rosemount State of the City – A Growing City!
Rosemount’s new Mayor, Jeff Weisensel, addressed the audience highlighting the growth of the city, including the exciting new Public Works & Police Department combined campus to be finished in 2024. The addition of five new police officers. The Parks and Recreation division presented their plans for new greenway trails, new baseball park, and trail shelters. New and expanding businesses that will make a significant economic impact for the community including Home Depot, FedEx, Lifetime Fitness, Hawkins, Inc., etc. It is the City’s goal to provide “housing for all stages of life.” School District 196 presented the two-question bond referendum. In 2022 Money magazine named Rosemount one of the Best Places to Live nationwide.

The Open Door Celebrates Its New Operation
It was a full house for The Open Door’s ribbon-cutting celebration. Chamber members from five local chambers, public officials, and community partners learned more about the new location’s operation, took a behind-the-scenes tour of the office space and warehouse, plus did some networking with fellow members.

After gathering a significant amount of public input, the City is working with American Ramp Company to finalize a design for the upgrade to Rogers Lake Skatepark. After tallying more than 150 votes, the final Valley View Heights playground design has been selected.
