Worship Time Change is Coming: 10:00am beginning July 2

All Souls is making some changes to our Sunday morning programming beginning this summer. Acting with careful consideration of the needs of parents, children, adults and the important gleanings from our FaithX data, we will make a shift to 10 am worship services starting July 2nd.

The new Sunday schedule will look like this:

  • 10:00 - 11:00 am - Worship Service
  • 11:00-11:30 am - Coffee Hour
  • 11:30 am - 12:30 pm - Faith Formation for All Ages

Our goal is to make faith formation accessible to everyone on a day when you are already at church. This means that on any given Sunday, you might be able to choose from a volunteer activity, a meditation class, an adult forum, a makerspace activity, a special ritual, a justice event, or any myriad of activities to nurture your body, mind or spirit. Faith formation classes for children and youth will occur at the same time.

Knowledge of our congregational needs and the data from FaithX show that it is important for us to provide food and childcare at church events, and we have budgeted for this in 2023-24. More details about how we will be providing food at Coffee Hour will be forthcoming. If you have questions please reach out to president@allsoulsindy.org and revkatie@allsoulsindy.org.

Don't forget to check Covid Act Now Marion County! Before coming to church activities.

Please reference our COVID policy for our guidelines. Inclement Weather policy. Check it out here.

Our Covid Safety Policy is still in effect. Our leadership will review the policy in light of WHO’s recent announcement that Covid no longer qualifies as a global health emergency; however, we recognize that Covid is here to stay, and we need to be appropriately vigilant and to protect the most vulnerable among us. Read the full announcement HERE.

Interested in Being a Host Family?

All Souls has the opportunity to bring a young man closely connected to our partner church in Transylvania to Indianapolis for a month this summer. Andras (Andrew) Szen is the son of a Unitarian minister and he is 17 years old. He would very much like to enjoy an immersive English language and American culture experience, preferably beween about June 20th and July 20th. A family from our church, preferably with a son or daughter of approximately the same age, would agree to host him for that period. His travel expenses will already be paid. An exchange visit to Transylvania for one of our teens could also be arranged. If you are interested and would like to have more information, please notify Jim Schrementi at jims.indy@gmail.com.

Outdoor Volunteer Opportunities with KIB

The Keep Indianapolis Beautiful gardening and tree planting season has started! Check out their community calendar for volunteer opportunities around the city.

Clever Phishers are playing games using a false address and pretending to be Jean Miller, the All Souls Board President. As with many phishing schemes, when you look carefully at the “from” line, you will see that the email address is not one that matches with the stated sender. For example, the message pretending to be Jean, when you examine the actual from email address, reads “churchmail316” which is not an All Souls email handle not her personal email address.

Please remember that no staff or Board member will ask for financial favors via email. Official messages about giving to All Souls will be tied to dedicated pledge or capital campaigns and will match language communicated in In The Know. If you would like to learn more about spotting phishing schemes, try this quiz: https://phishingquiz.withgoogle.com/

Spring Congregational Meeting Recap

Thank you to all who were able to attend our May 7 Congregational Meeting! Here’s a recap:

  • The Slate of Officers (1 year terms) and new Trustees (3 year terms) was elected. Terms will begin July 1. The new Trustees will work with the current board until then as part of an onboarding and orientation process.
  • The proposed Bylaw amendments were approved.
  • The proposed 2023-24 Budget was adopted.
  • We had some good questions and discussion during the meeting. We encourage you to continue to reach out to the Board and Rev. Katie directly with any questions, concerns or thoughts you have. We can’t address what we don’t know!
  • Board and staff reports for the year can be found in the Annual Report and minutes from the meeting, after being approved by the board, will be found on the Governance webpage.

Love Coffee Hour? Help Us Keep It Going.

Coffee Hour Volunteers Needed for Sundays in May & June. We need a minimum of 2 volunteers each Sunday to arrive at 10 am, make coffee, serve coffee, and clean-up. You would be able to attend the worship service, although you might need to leave a few minutes early. The new coffee-making system is so easy to use! Are you in a Chalice Circle or other small group? Volunteering together for a Coffee Hour is a great group activity! Thank you to the Channing Club who has volunteered to serve coffee (and cake!) the first Sunday of each month and a group of church friends who have volunteered for the third Sundays!
