Presbytery Packet
Friends,

Melody Gonzalez and I had intended to have the presbytery packet ready for this newsletter. It is not.

Uvalde is our priority. Melody has been with her family as her step-father, Rev. David Roach, has had a medical issue (please pray for them). And while you're praying, our accountant, Jeanne Morgan, is recovering from back surgery. She's doing well.

Thank you for your understanding. We'll have it out to you next week.

Peace of Christ,
Laurie Palmer
New Life Faith Community Needs Your Support!
Here's an opportunity for you to be in on the ground floor of starting a new congregation in Mission Presbytery!

Many of you know that Presbytery Evangelist, Ezequiel Herrera, has managed to begin a new congregation in the Rio Grande Valley during a pandemic! New Life Faith Community/ Comunidad de Fe Nueva Vida has been worshiping together since March, and has been gathering for Bible studies for longer than that. They are building a wonderful new community, they are strong and growing, and they need your support!

New Life has received an initial grant from the Presbyterian Mission Agency for its work. In order to receive the next grant of $25,000, they need to raise $25,000 to match it. The deadline to raise that money is December 31. Any amount you can give is needed and greatly appreciated!

Go to our website, Mission-Presbytery.org, to donate. At the top of the page is a "GIVE NOW" button. When you click the button you are taken to the "Donations" page which provides several opportunities for you to give. When you enter your donation on the line for "New Life Faith Community," it will go straight to them.

Thank you in advance for your support of this ministry.
Emails to Presbytery
Unfortunately, the Presbytery email system for staff and COM - all emails ending with the domain "missionpby.org" - was out of whack from Friday, May 20 until late Sunday, May 22. The system is now back up and running. But if you tried to send an email to anyone on staff during that time and had it bounce back, please try resending it now. We're not being unresponsive, we just couldn't receive your note!
Stated Clerk's Notes
Come, Jesus Christ, and heal us.
Creator, we have fouled the works of Your hands.
Forgive us.
Holy Spirit, teach us to love and move us to action.
Sallie's Ponderings
One thing I do know this day: God walks with us and cries with us. Some will try and placate the tragedy of this situation by claiming that God “wanted a few more angels.” None of this is God’s will for any of us - for the perpetrator, for the children, for the families, for the community. The One who was “a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief” is the same One who grieves this tragedy and holds us as we weep

Resources and Links
We are Mission Presbytery, serving Christ in the World. In the Reformed Tradition, together we,
  • Establish and equip congregations and session to carry out their missions;
  • Recruit, receive, ordain, develop, and care for those called to service in the church;
  • Enable mission and witness to the Gospel that congregations cannot accomplish alone; and
  • Steward our resources faithfully and generously.
We are better together.
