SHALOM – LESSON 4
FULFILLMENT OF PURPOSE
The first aspect of shalom we looked at was wholeness, wellness, and completeness in body, soul, and spirit. The second aspect was harmony in your relationships.
The third aspect of shalom, which we will consider today is fulfillment of purpose. God has a purpose for every person. Shalom includes finding that purpose and living it out daily.
When you get hold of your purpose in life, it brings energy for fulfillment. A person with no purpose is listless, frustrated, and sometimes wonders what in the world they are here for. What does life hold for them?
God told the prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah 3:5 that God’s purpose for him was determined even before he was conceived in his mother’s womb. God’s destiny for each person is written in the books of heaven before they are born. As we turn to God and seek Him, Holy Spirit will gently guide us in the right direction. Most people never find their true purpose because they do not seek after God. They try to make their own way by their own will apart from Him.
When you seek the Lord, it brings alignment with Him. It is a peace that says, “I love to get up in the morning and do what I am called to do.” The important thing is to give praise to the Lord in all things and in all circumstances, good or bad. We live to honor him.
Jeremiah 29:11 says of the Lord, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace (shalom), and not of evil (bad, adversity, calamity, distress, or displeasure), to give you an expected end.” (End: Strongs H319: future posterity, length of days, reward.)
Jeremiah 29:12-13 then tells us how to find that purpose and plan. It says, “Then you shall call upon me… and pray unto me, and I will hearken (listen) unto you. And ye shall seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.”
This leads to a successful fulfillment of your purpose. It brings, peace, shalom when His purpose becoming completed and fulfilled in you as you seek him daily.
