2023 LEGISLATIVE SESSION: WEEK 3

At the end of the 3rd week of the 2023 Regular Legislative Session both chambers moved priority legislation. HB 1 School Choice, by Representative Kaylee Tuck, (R- Lake Placid) passed out of the Senate on Thursday, March 23rd and was signed by the Governor earlier today. SB 102 Housing, by Senator Alexis Calatayud, (R- Miami) passed out of the House on Friday, March 24th, and awaits signature by the Governor. There was also movement on HB 121 Florida Kidcare Program Eligibility by Representative Robin Bartleman, (D- Weston) which passed unanimously out of its second committee stop, the House Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee on Wednesday, March 22nd and HB 1021 Child Care and Early Learning Providers by Representative Fiona McFarland, (R- Sarasota) was also introduced and received unanimous support from the House Education & Employment Committee on Thursday, March 23rd.
Other legislation of interest that moved last week includes SB 504 Expunction of Criminal History Records, by Senator Ana Maria Rodriquez, (R- Miami) , SB 914 Suicide Prevention, by Senator Ileana Garcia, (R- Miami), and its companion bill HB 655 Suicide Prevention, by Representative Dana Trabulsy, (R- St. Lucie).
