TD Summer Reading Club

Saturday, August 24, 2 to 4 p.m.


Celebrate a successful summer of reading at this fun-filled family Touch A Truck event! The Orangeville Public Library is partnering with the Town of Orangeville to bring a lineup of trucks, including a firetruck, backhoe, snowplow and more, for kids to explore. Meet the community helpers who drive these vehicles and learn all about what they do.


This event will take place in the far side of the Alder Street Recreation Centre parking lot - 275 Alder Street.

Drop in between 2 and 4 p.m. to take part. No registration required.


At 3 p.m. Katie and Evelyn will announce our 2024 TD Summer Reading Club prize winners. Do not forget to submit your tickets in Beanstack by end of day on August 23 for a chance to win!

Star Wars Escape Room


Monday, August 12, 5 to 8 p.m., Mill Street - Test your Star Wars knowledge and work together to solve riddles and escape the room! Bring the whole family for an engaging and entertaining event. This program is geared towards school age children 8 and up, and their grown ups as a group. Registration is required to participate. Groups will be provided with a 5 p.m., 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. time slot once registration is submitted.

Join Curator Wendy Vincent for an engaging session on Migrant Stories. This presentation will feature the experiences of and artifacts from the life of local Dufferin resident Lloyd Lindo, aka "Uncle Lloyd," a Jamaican migrant whose story spans three continents and many decades.

Thursday, September 5, 7 p.m., Mill St.


Join Doctors Sammy Winemaker & Hsien Seow to learn 7 keys that can activate patients, families, and providers to have a better illness journey. Together they have written the essential guidebook for every patient and family called Hope for the Best, Plan for the Rest: 7 Keys for Navigating a Life-Changing Diagnosis. Please register to let us know you plan to attend this special event.

Community Scanning Day - Saturday, August 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mill St. - The Museum of Dufferin (MoD) Archives is looking to collect digital scans of community photographs to include in an upcoming exhibition on children and play. Community members will leave with their original photograph, leaving only a digitized copy with the MoD Archival collection. There is a second date for this program on Wednesday, September 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Alder Street location.


Tuesday, August 13, 7 p.m. - Virtual Book Chat - Connect with other ravenous readers over a shared love of books. Attendees will receive five bonus tickets towards prizes in our Canada Reads Summer Reading Challenge. Please register to receive the Microsoft Teams link.


Tuesday, August 20, 1 p.m. - Orange thREADs meets at the Mill Street Library to discuss recent reads and your latest creations. New members are always welcome.

Teens at the Library

Friday, August 16, 7 p.m.


TAG is hosting another fun teen trivia night for ages 13 to 17 at the Mill St. Library. Bring a friend and test your knowledge in categories like pop culture, movies, music and much more. There will be yummy snacks and prizes to be won! Please register in advance.

The Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meets on Friday, August 9, 4 p.m. at Mill St. Get involved - email teens@orangeville.ca and Tanis will provide you with all the details on our teen programs.


Teen Chronicles meets on Friday, August 23, 4 p.m. at Mill St. Discuss hot summer reads and build your TBR list.


Sweet Summer Reading Challenge


It's super easy to register in Beanstack for a chance to win cool prizes! Log the books you read this summer until September 1. Every book read unlocks a badge which earns you tickets toward prizes.


Prizes include gift certificates for Aardvark Music, Amazon, BookLore, Dairy Queen, McDonalds, Mo'Cha Bubble Tea and Wicked Shortbread!
