Racine County Arts Spotlight: Racine Theatre Guild |
Each month, Visit Racine County is shining a spotlight on the vibrant arts community in Racine County. From instrumental and vocal music to drama and comedy performances, there is something to enjoy nearly every week of the year. Racine County is home to a nationally recognized art museum, engaging hands-on art studios, and inspiring art galleries that showcase talented regional artists. This month, we feature the following article by Joycelyn Fish, director of marketing and development at the Racine Theatre Guild.
The Racine Theatre Guild (RTG) was founded in 1938 and is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in Wisconsin. A volunteer-based organization, hundreds of volunteers act on stage, build sets, create costumes, work as ushers, tech productions, and more, connecting with the community and entertaining thousands of patrons and students each year.
RTG offers eight mainstage plays and musicals each season, in addition to Signature Spotlight revue concerts, Jeanās Jazz concerts, RTG Limited Edition comedy shows and entertainment, and Racine Childrenās Theatre productions. We bring people from all walks of life together in our beautiful 400-seat theatre.
During my first visit to RTG in 2016, I was blown away by the professionalism and welcoming atmosphere of everyone here. As the director of marketing and development, I have had such joy shining a spotlight on the incredible people who give their time and talents to create theatre, music, and art, giving back and inspiring others. I take pride in highlighting their stories and work, bringing new and returning patrons to the theatre, and connecting with the broader community. As part of the āCreative Corridor,ā theatre and the arts create a positive ripple effect throughout the unique fabric of Racine County.
