Dear Shawnee UMC Family,

Please join us for worship

this Sunday

in-person or on Facebook Live at 10:30am.

The Scriptures for Pastor Changsu's sermon are:

2 Corinthians 5:18- 20

18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. 20 So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

and

1 Peter 2:9

9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN WORSHIP

THIS SUNDAY!

The Tuesday Lectionary Group invites you to share some of your favorite scriptures, which we will then share with all members.

Please email them to:

maryann13fenstermacher@gmail.com.

Here are this week's scriptures for study and meditation:

Hosea 2:13-15 I will punish her for the days dedicated to the Baals, when she offered sweet smelling sacrifices to them and dressed herself up with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, and forgot me, says the Lord. Therefore, I will charm her, and bring her into the desert, and speak tenderly to her heart. From there I will give her vineyards, and make the Achor Valley a door of hope. There she will respond to me as in the days of her youth, like the time when she came out of the land of Egypt.

Psalm 9:7-12 But the Lord rules forever! He assumes his throne for the sake of justice. He will establish justice in the world rightly; He will judge all people fairly. The Lord is a safe place for the oppressed--a safe place in difficult times. Those who know your name trust in you because you have not abandoned any who seek you, Lord.

James 3:10-13 Blessings and cursing come from the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, it just shouldn't be this way! Both fresh water and salt water don't come from the same spring, do they? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree produce olives? Can a grapevine produce figs? Of course not, and, and fresh water doesn't flow from a saltwater spring, either. Are you wise and understanding? Show that your actions are good with a humble lifestyle that comes from wisdom.

Luke 5:21-15 The legal experts and Pharisees began to mutter among themselves, "Who is this who insults God? Only God can forgive sins!" Jesus recognized what they were discussing and responded, "Why do you fill your minds with these questions?Which is easier--to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'? But so that you will know that the Human One has authority on earth to forgive sins"--Jesus spoke to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, get up, take your cot, and go home." Right away, the man stood before them, picked up his cot, and went home, praising God. All the people were beside themselves with wonder. Filled with awe, they glorified God, saying, "We've seen unimaginable things today."

We need your help to make this year successful!

Check your calendars during the Month of October and schedule to work a shift! Or even one shift a week! It’s easy work. The patch is open from 10AM to 7PM every day in October with the day divided into 3 shifts. The link to the on-line Sign-Up Genius calendar is up; https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0545A5AC2BA57-pumpkin. I will be in the Narthex the next two Sundays to help folks sign up on-line.

So, plan ahead, pick a date and invite a friend to work a shift together. It’s a lot of fun and helps put SUMC into the community!

If you have a little time or a lot, and you spot something that intrigues you, just give me a call. All volunteers welcome!
