April Beginner's Pottery Wheel (3-week class)
Dates: Mondays weekly in April, 4/11, 18, 25
Time: 10am-2pm
Instructor: Lisa Opfer
Cost: $185 / person

This class is for absolute beginners with no experience, to advanced beginners. Students will learn the process of throwing on a potter’s wheel and how to decorate the surface of their pieces with glaze. Simple beginner techniques using underglazing, and carving techniques.
April Hatha-Based Yoga with Cindi Schickert
Dates: Mondays weekly in April, 4/4, 11, 18, 25
Time: 6-7:15pm
Instructor: Cindi Schickert
Cost: $40 / person for the 4-week April session, or $12 / class drop-in

These classes are Hatha based, where postures are held for a few breaths with some slow flow added in.

April Yoga Flow with Kate Remme
Dates: Wednesdays weekly in April, 4/6, 13, 20, 27
Time: 8:30-9:30am

This athletic and strengthening Yoga class will flow from one pose to the next, while releasing muscle tension & reducing stress. Various styles of Yoga will be explored, such as Power Yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Yoga Fusion. Modifications offered for all levels.

In this unit, students will explore the seasons we experience here in the Northwoods, focusing on the element of color.

Larry Jankowski: LIVE @ Inspiration Bar
Date: Friday, April 15
Time: 7-9pm

In 2008, Jankowski received a Yamaha HX-1 organ and that is when “Larry Jankowski and the Electronic Orchestra” was born. This unique organ is a one of a kind in Wisconsin and a challenge to master. Jankowski was forced to take a two-year leave from playing professionally while he learned the instrument. He has now recorded seven albums, including standards, love songs, Christian and Christmas music. In 2013 he recorded his first vocal album. Titled “Ok I’ll Sing!”. Jankowski was always afraid to sing lead, but fans and friends have been after him to try to start singing along with his playing. 

Jankowski is a familiar performer around the Northwoods, having played in numerous supper clubs, resorts, country clubs, botanic gardens, art fairs, elk’s & lion’s club’s, libraries, museums, Music in the Park, assisted living centers and for many churches from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan all the way to Madison, WI and is now being called all over Wisconsin and back to places at times in the Chicago area.

Children's Wisconsin Playdough & Slime Making Workshop

Join Children’s Wisconsin for a morning of sensory play! They are going to be making your own playdough or slime for you to take home. Staff will help you to mix up a batch of something soft and squishy, and after you can stay for music and dancing!

Join Master Artist Wayne Valliere (Mino-giizhig in Ojibwe),  belonging to Lake Superior Chippewa’s Lac du Flambeau band, as he foreshadows, What We Can Learn from a Wigwam: The Arts, Crafts, and Science of the Ancient Ojibwe. Wayne is a 2020 recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts 2020 National Heritage Fellowship, the nation’s highest honor awarded to those who keep folk and traditional arts alive. Wayne’s presentation will give us a glimpse of what lies ahead in our summer 2022 programming, “Living WITH the Northwoods!”

Arts on Tap is a free learning/lecture series. These events are free to attend and open to the public. Enjoy the conversation and grab a soft drink from our Inspiration Bar!
Corks & Canvas

With instruction and guidance from an experienced artist/teacher, participants will paint their own version of an example image and will start at the beginning, including a description of tools and materials, and proceed step by step through the creation of an acrylic painting.
