Battle of the Books (BoB) is a voluntary, reading incentive program for students. Students will meet once a month, October through March, to discuss the different books on the reading list and prepare for the trivia battle. In March, randomized teams will be formed and students will compete in a 3-part trivia battle to test their book & author knowledge. Any student is welcome to participate in the meetings, but in order to participate in the school battle, 3^rd graders must read 8 books and 4/5^th graders must read a minimum of 15 books from the BoB list. Special recognition will be given to those who have read all the books!

Do you enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections Artist Competition! 

The PTA Reflections competition is NOW OPEN. The theme for 2022-2023 Reflections is "Show your Voice!!"

The categories are dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. All entries will be submitted online. Students in TK through Grade 12 are invited to create and submit original works of art in these areas. To start, please begin the application: REFLECTIONS APPLICATION.

It is time for the 2022-23 Jog-a-thon Logo design contest! This contest is for 5th graders only. The winning logo will be used on Jog-a-thon banners, communications and t-shirts.

DUE DATE: MONDAY, OCTOBER 10TH

INSTRUCTIONS: Students can also use any blank 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

Please scan or take photo of your Logo and email to kconway310@gmail.com

1) Include the words “Jefferson Elementary” and “2022 Jog-A-Thon” in the design.

2) Must be hand-drawn with black marker only (no colors), fit on one page and be clear and legible.

3) Write your name and teacher’s name on this page or in your email.

4) Multiple entries may be submitted, each entry on a separate form.

A huge THANK YOU to each family who made an investment in RBEF during the Investor Drive Blitz Campaign. We were overwhelmed by the support of our community!

Thanks to you, we were able to raise over $𝟓𝟕𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 in the 3 weeks of the Investor Drive. This means we crushed our goal for the flash match donation and we received the $25,000 from Clear Recovery!!! Thank you to all the first-time donors who helped us meet Hoffman Murphy’s new donor challenge!!!

One of the questions we hear most often is, "I couldn't give during the Investor Drive. Is it too late to participate?" While our 2022 Investor Drive Blitz is over, many families prefer to contribute to RBEF at different times throughout the year, based on personal preferences. Any gift received between now and June 30, 2023 will still count in our annual total. You can make a gift at any time you choose by visiting www.rbef.org/give. Remember, gifts of all sizes are helpful and important! Last but not least, please check if your employer offers a gift matching program. You could double your donation.

2.   Fill out registration information for each walker individually! Sign up your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and even pets! Each $30 Registration Fee comes BACK to JEFFERSON PLUS MORE!

3.   Make sure to check the box for REDONDO BEACH EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION so Team Jefferson GETS CREDIT for each of our walkers!

Last year, 272 Walkers = $8,160 back to Team Jefferson!

National Hispanic Heritage Awareness Month – National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15^th – October 15^th to promote the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans — specifically, those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Communities mark the achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans with festivals and educational activities. This year's theme is: "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation."
