GHIAA Day at the Capitol - 3 May

On Wednesday May 3rd members of GHIAA Congregations are invited to join together for a day of advocacy around GHIAA’s current issues including Mental Health Access, Equitable Funding for Education, and Financial resources for grass roots organizations that are well positioned to address community gun violence.

The day will begin at 10am with Interfaith prayer in the second floor atrium of the Legislative Office Building. There will then be a Press Conference at 10:45, followed by a brief training on advocacy with lawmakers. From 11:30-12:30 and 1:30-2:45 people are encouraged to meet with their respective legislators to let them know that these important issues matter!

I will be speaking at the press conference and hope to see you there. If you have additional questions please reach out to me at 860-986-3289. -- Rev. D.

Updates
On May 7 we will experience the stories of “KNOWING JESUS IN A NEW WAY”.

I wonder if there is anything in this room that you can bring and put beside these pictures to help us tell more about this part of the story?

Only YOU know what you are going to get. YOU are the only one in the world who knows that.

If YOU don’t feel like getting something, YOU are still part of what we make.
ADULT CHRISTIAN FORMATION
SAVE THE DATE! MAY 7, 2023

The Morality of Taxes:
A Jewish-Christian Social Ethic

The deadline for filing our tax returns for the year 2022 is now behind us. But it is not too early to think about what our Jewish-Christian social ethic has to say about the morality - even the ethical imperative - to put taxation in its proper social context. We will set the stage for a robust discussion of what would be a fair and effective tax system in a social democratic republic such as our nation claims to be.

The Adult Christian Formation team invites you to come to the Library following the 10 AM Eucharist on Sunday, May 7 to explore the issue of taxation with Frank Kirkpatrick.

Get a cup of coffee and a snack and join us!
$15,000 Matching Grant Awarded for Chimney Repairs!

The Parish of Trinity Church has been awarded a 2023 Preservation Connecticut Maintenance and Repair Matching Grant for historic religious properties in the amount of $15,000.00. This was truly a group effort by Rev. D, Heather Kramer, Vinnie Pacileo and Barbara Roos. There are several chimneys that are in desperate need of repair. Work will be ongoing throughout the year.

Thank you to all who helped make this possible!
Call for Annual Reports for
Trinity Church Annual Meeting – June 4, 2023

Cystic Fibrosis Walk on May 20, 2023

Hello all! Kate and Drew Smith’s Cystic Fibrosis walk will be held at a new location: the Riverfront Park, Glastonbury, on Saturday, May 20th, 10 am.

Our granddaughter Sarah was born 13 years ago with Cystic Fibrosis and is doing quite well. She has started taking the new drug Trikafta and has grown several inches. She is now taller than her mother!

Team Strolling for Sarah does its annual walk, about 3 miles or one hour, to support the Great Strides program which raises research dollars for this genetic lung and digestion disease. The new drug Trikafta treats some of the causes for her illness and not just the symptoms.

If you cannot walk we hope you will support us at our website or mail us at :
106 Vista Way Bloomfield, CT 06002.

Visit our website : http://bndfr.com/2bsbd for more information. Any questions? My email is: Kate48smith@comcast.net  or call 860-519-1591.

Thanks so much, Kate and Drew Smith
Library Table Repaired

It was a big job, and Peter Green spent many hours restoring a table leg that was completely sheared off. It’s now better than new! Thank you, Peter!
