Helping Families at Passover

Please help us bring much needed support to hundreds of local families celebrating Passover. With the holiday fast approaching, we are scrambling to ensure that everyone in need has the resources to observe the rich traditions of Passover.

JFS' annual Passover campaign has always been centered around providing traditional Passover food to local families in need. During COVID, the campaign shifted to providing grocery store gift cards so families could purchase what they needed to observe the holiday. This year, nearly 500 people in Middlesex County, many of whom are seniors on fixed incomes, have requested gift cards so they can observe the holiday.

Please help us meet the need in our community – it’s not too late to make a donation toward Passover gift cards for those in need. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of families who may be struggling to fill their Passover tables and observe their traditions.

We are especially grateful to the ladies of Stonebridge Hadassah for the recent donation of grocery store gift cards. Thank you for your support!

Volunteers Needed: Deliver Meals to

Homebound Seniors

JFS is seeking three caring volunteers for a new Highland Park route as part of its Kosher Meals on Wheels (KMOW) program.

Volunteers who can make a weekly commitment are needed to deliver meals on either Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Pick-up is in Metuchen at approximately 10 am. Volunteers should be prepared to devote approximately 2 hours of their time on delivery day.

Delivering meals and checking on homebound seniors is one of the most compassionate, rewarding ways of helping your community. If interested, please call Michelle Beley-Bianco, Director of Volunteer Services at 732-777-1940 or email michelleb@jfsmiddlesex.org.

Helping New Jerseyans on

Their Path to Citizenship

On March 18th, JFS Immigration & Citizenship Services staff and volunteers participated in NALEO's Free Citizenship Application Assistance event at the Elizabeth Public Library. The event provided NJ residents with a range of services, including legal consultations, assistance with Citizenship applications and support with other immigration-related issues. Applying for Citizenship can be costly, especially when legal services are included.

This event was made possible through the collaboration of four agencies: the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), Make the Road NJ, Elizabeth Public Library and JFS Immigration & Citizenship Services, all of whom provided vital support to 22 individuals who were able to complete their U.S. Citizenship applications. JFS’ team helped attendees navigate the complex process of applying for U.S. Citizenship and answered any questions about the process. The event was a resounding success – we are proud to have been able to provide this important support to our community with the help of our partners.

JFS Immigration & Citizenship Services is committed to working with our partners to provide legal help and other services to those who need it most. Events like these are crucial for building a strong, supportive community that helps everyone on the path toward Citizenship. If you would like to learn more about JFS Immigration & Citizenship or know someone who could benefit from these services, view our flyer. If you wish to sponsor low-income individuals applying for Citizenship, please make a donation online.
