President's Message
Nicholas W. Bennett, MAI

Welcome to the first newsletter of 2022.

I am honored to be president of the Nevada chapter of the Appraisal Institute. After serving in other capacities within the organization, it is with a great sense of pride and determination that I take on this role.

I would like to congratulate the 2021 president, Hazel Johnson, SRA, AI-RRS for leading us last year. I would also like to thank my fellow officers and board members for their expertise, knowledge and assistance in the coming year.

What can I say about Tina Anderson? This chapter would cease to exist without the daily efforts of our executive director. Many of you are unaware of the herculean tasks she does on a daily basis to keep the Nevada chapter running smoothly. Working hand-in-hand with Tina makes my job very easy. I am truly honored to work beside her throughout the year.

January 2022 brought some significant positive changes to our Chapter. We held our first in-person USPAP class, which was well attended. In addition, after postponing the Las Vegas Market Symposium for two years, the yearly event was held at the end of January at the Suncoast.

It was amazing to see everyone in person again as the LVMS had near record attendance and shattered our sponsorship goals!
As we have done in the past, we donated a portion of the proceeds to a local charity. This year's donation will go to the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center.

I want to thank each and everyone of you who attended or sponsored our event. In addition, after a decade of having the LVMS in November, we have decided that a January event best suits our members.

While it certainly feels like we are emerging from the worst of the pandemic, the effects are still being felt throughout the industry. The Appraisal Institute has provided us with significant resources that are regularly updated. Please visit this link for more information on further guidance regarding appraising during these times.

Our local chapter is only as successful as we make it. Volunteering your time and effort by members helps our chapter grow and succeed. Please considering serving on one of our boards or committees, service is what makes us strong. Open positions are listed below within the newsletter.

After two years of uncertainty, my hope is that 2022 emerges as the year we grew stronger, closer and ready to meet the challenges of appraising in today’s world. I want to thank all the members who graciously give their time to this chapter. I look forward to serving as your 2022 Nevada Chapter President.

Thank you,
Nicholas W. Bennett, MAI
