Sarah Weaves Her Way to Success at

Three Bags Full Knitting Studio

Weaving together a successful job match takes talent. TotalLink’s Employment Team is trained to first identify someone’s strengths, skills, and ideal conditions for success and then to network with the community to learn about jobs needing these skills.

TotalLink learned that one of our job seekers, Sarah, excels at organization and does best in supportive environments. TotalLink discovered that Lynette Swanson, the owner of Three Bags Full in Northbrook, needed these skills and wanted someone who enjoys working as part of a team in a small, quiet environment.

Lynette met Sarah, and together, they knitted the perfect match. As a store associate, Sarah helps price-tag incoming yarn, take inventory, and sort and organize bins of yarn.

“TotalLink found a perfect fit for Sarah’s skills and interests. Three Bags Full staff are very supportive and welcoming of Sarah and want her to succeed,” shared Sarah’s parents, Joanne and Chuck.

Health Advocacy - Step into Confidence!

Health and wellness greatly impact the quality of life. Dr. Cathy DiVincenzo, a retired pediatrician and mom of an adult with Down syndrome, recently presented a free Health Advocacy Workshop to our community.

“It’s so important to be knowledgeable about your health and feel comfortable in the doctor’s office. Hopefully, I changed a few minds about disliking going to the doctor!” shared Cathy.

Cathy's focus on human rights in healthcare, her insights on what to expect at a doctor’s visit, and her tips for preparing for an appointment were invaluable. She shared practical advice on scheduling appointments independently, understanding medications, and the role of a parent/guardian/support person in an adult’s health. Her decades of experience and calming presence made everyone feel safe and knowledgeable about their role in accessing healthcare.
