Faith In Rural Health Internship

Mercer University’s Faith in Rural Health program is a collaboration between the School of TheologySchool of Medicine, and the Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center to support physical, mental and spiritual health in rural Georgia counties. The initiative kicked off last June in Berrien County, where a medical student and a theology student shadowed physicians and ministers in the county, conducted qualitative interviews to evaluate strengths and needs, and attended community events. This year they have expanded the program to other counties and are recruiting medical students and theology students for internships starting in January. If you are interested in being a part of this initiative contact Paul Byrd.

Rosh Hashanah

September 25 -27

Rosh Hashanah is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the creation of the world and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe. This 10-day period of introspection and repentance culminates in the Yom Kippur holiday, also known as the Day of Atonement. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are the two “High Holy Days” in the Jewish religion.

The exact date of Rosh Hashanah varies every year, since it is based on the Hebrew Calendar, where it begins on the first day of the seventh month. Rosh Hashanah is almost always in September or October. This year, Rosh Hashanah began on Sunday, September 25 and will end on the evening of Tuesday, September 27.
