Hello Friends,

It’s been a sensational September at RTMC! As always, we continue to focus on our mission: Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities, Rebuilding Lives.

Our team and many amazing volunteers are working hard to reach our goal to serve 180 families in need this year. We have completed repairs for 32 families so far and have dozens of other projects in process. Thanks to our outstanding team for their hard work!

This month we welcomed another member to the team, Elyssa Diamond. She will be serving as our new AmeriCorps Client Outreach Coordinator. Elyssa will ensure a high level of communication and support for homeowners as they apply for services and help RTMC increase awareness in the community!

RTMC will be kicking off the month with our largest fundraiser. The RTMC Golf Tournament, chaired by RTMC Vice President Lance Wolin, is taking place Monday, October 2nd at Bretton Woods Golf Course. Thank you to the presenting sponsor MH Mechanical and all of those who are supporting the tournament. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday!

GEICO Team Helps Inclusive Living Residence

Our sincere thanks and appreciation for volunteers from GEICO, lead by Jill Purdy and Marty Golatt, who joined RTMC at an inclusive living residence run by The Arc Montgomery County. At this home the residents are using mobility devices and were having difficulty maneuvering through narrow doorways and hallways. With the help of these wonderful volunteers, we were able to widen doorways, repair and repaint walls, and a landscape. Thank you, GEICO team, for increasing mobility and beautifying this home for the residents!

Hispanic Heritage Month Highlight

We are proud to serve a community that contributes to the diverse cultures and histories of Montgomery County. 15% of residents who receive repairs by RTMC identify as Hispanic. One of our homeowners, Mrs. R has been a resident of Silver Spring for over 30 years and recently received a new roof after experiencing leaks that were damaging to the home’s interior. Her family home is now safe and dry for years to come!

If you know anyone that could use our services our application is available in English and Spanish HERE.

October is Long-Term Care Planning Month

Rebuilding Together Montgomery County understands the importance of accessible homes and aging in place. 72% of the homeowners served by RTMC last year were over the age of 62 and 91% of homeowners assisted by Rebuilding Together later report they would be able to age in place. With our Home Accessibility Rehabilitation Program (HARP), we're ready to help older adults in Montgomery County plan for a future in their homes. Interested homeowners can find more information about our HARP HERE.
