City News and Updates
I would like to take a moment of your time to address the state of our city with regard to economic development. As you might know this is a very important topic to me and my administration. The more opportunities that you have to spend money in our community instead of traveling to a neighboring town and giving them your tax dollars the less likely we will need to discuss topics like lack of funding in your local government and the more we can provide you with the amenities that you desire. I was very excited to break the news to you in January that the national restaurant chain Whataburger has decided to invest in Ozark, but they are not the only ones. We have received plans and permits for other exciting venues like Classic Rock Coffee, Culvers, Big O Tire, and most recently a Starbucks drive-thru. This is a very exciting time for the growth of Ozark and we are working hard to provide you with additional amenities to add to your quality of life here in Ozark. Businesses are wanting to invest in communities that invest in themselves. Our focus on infrastructure (road improvements, sidewalks, trails) and public safety make Ozark an inviting and attractive community for developers and businesses. I want you to know that we plan the stay the course and work diligently to provide you quality growth to our commercial corridors and business community in an effort to bring you the best Ozark possible.

Coming Soon to the Neal & Betty Grubaugh Park
Summer 2022!
The City of Ozark is excited to announce a new inclusive playground coming to our Neal and Betty Grubaugh Park at 907 East Parkview, Ozark, MO, in Summer 2022. We are excited about having a place here in Ozark where “Everybody Can Play.”
The playground will have an ADA-accessible Swing, specially engineered to secure children with mobility limitations safely. A large portion of the Play Structure is wheelchair accessible, with inclusive activities that a child can use both in sitting & standing positions. The Play area flooring was designed with mobility devices in mind making maneuvering the area easy for everyone.
A special thank you to all of our sponsors who have been vital in making this dream a reality! CC Links, The Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions Club of Ozark, Utopia Club, Cosmopolitan Club, 4C Sertoma, Equilibrium Therapy, Mo-Yak Fishing, and Impact 100 Ozark

Public Works
Last month, we talked about three sidewalk/trail projects that will drastically improve our City’s multi-modal transportation network. These projects will provide connections to individual nodes of activity throughout Ozark. In this Newsletter, Public Works would like to direct your attention towards a project that will CONNECT OUR REGION!

On February 7, the Board of Aldermen approved a contract to construct an additional phase of a planned trail corridor known as the Chadwick Flyer. Ultimately this former spur of the Old Saint Louis, San Francisco Railroad will serve as a regional greenway connecting Ozark to the City of Springfield. This project underscores the meaning of collaboration.  Together the City of Ozark is partnering with the Ozark School District, Christian County, Greene County, the City of Springfield, Ozark Greenways, and the Ozark Transportation Organization in order to commemorate the rich history of the railroad within the Ozarks. This regional project will help connect our citizens to our past and provide a physical path to celebrate future opportunities. This greenway will serve as a natural connection to our beautiful outdoors and will cultivate an experience economy that strengthens our unique culture, generates recreational opportunities, and becomes a catalyst for tourism.

The contract that the Board of Aldermen unanimously approved will construct a segment of trail that safely connects the Ozark School District to the Ozark Community Center. Within this phase of the Chadwick Flyer, the trail will also be connected to two (2) grade-separated crossings under Jackson St. and run north all the way north to the intersection of W. Clay St. and 17th St. This segment will ultimately serve as our “gateway to the north” and pave the way for future regional connectivity.

For more in-depth information about this recently approved phase, please check out our webpage devoted to all things Chadwick Flyer https://ozarkmissouri.com/523/Chadwick-Flyer
Also, stay tuned for more updates. Our Elected Officials, City Staff and Project Partners have already begun identifying additional future phases. These are exciting times in Ozark!
