It has been a bustling and busy beginning of the year for us in Uganda. Starting up a new year of school is always a great deal of work. The work also comes with excitement as we look forward to what God has for us in the new year. He is good and has faithfully blessed us for many years even when it’s difficult, and we trust he will continue to do so.
We were also encouraged during this time as teams and interns are beginning again after a few challenging years for travel. Shannon joined us for 5 weeks to share her newly acquired medical skills at our Holmes Medical Clinic. She was a blessing there while also connecting to our kids at the children’s home in a meaningful way. She loved on, listened to and encouraged them. It is always a blessing for us to have young adults come and share in the lives of the children at the home as well as the many sponsored kids we serve. Most interns come and work at the school or in the children’s home, while some jump in with our social workers and sponsorship team. They all work with our Awana club and Sunday school and some mentor and disciple some of our youth. Please contact Cindy at cindy@hineskids.org if you would like to spend some time ministering with us, usually 1-3 months.
Pam, a long-time teacher, has come many times over the years to offer practical training to our Genesis teachers. She has built strong relationships and blessed their socks off for her 2 month visit this year. This year Pam also coordinated a team from Bear Valley Church to join her for 2 weeks in February. They dove right in and ministered to the children and staff in so many different ways.
