October is National Mental Health Screening Month - Take A Free Online Screening!
In the fast-paced whirlwind of life, it's easy to overlook our mental well-being. Just like we schedule regular check-ups for our physical health, it's equally crucial to assess our mental health. At The Summit, we believe that taking mental health screenings is a pivotal step towards holistic well-being.
For many, seeking help can be daunting. However, mental health screenings are a non-invasive, confidential way to begin that journey. They create a safe space for introspection, allowing individuals to reflect on their emotions and thought patterns. Moreover, these screenings serve as a valuable tool for our dedicated counselors, enabling them to tailor their support to your unique needs. Take a short, anonymous, and confidential screening today!

Virtual Group: Supportive Parenting for Anxious Children
Wednesdays from 6:00 – 7:30 PM
October 11th – November 29th
Virtual Meetings via Zoom
|
How can we help our children understand and manage their anxious thoughts?
This group is a parent-based therapy group for children and adolescent anxiety. Parents will learn how to alleviate their children’s anxiety by changing the way they respond to their children’s symptoms. Parents will not be required to make their children change their behavior, but will be shown how to replace their own accommodating behaviors (which allow anxiety to flourish) with supportive responses that demonstrate both acceptance of children’s difficulties and confidence in their ability to cope.

Welcome Will Atkins, MA, LPC - Summit's Director of Clinical Services! | Without a trusting, open, and honest relationship, therapeutic interventions often fall flat. For this reason, Will focuses on the development of a solid relationship as a foundation for the therapeutic journey. Many of the struggles of humanity are related to big picture questions. Who am I? What is my purpose? Where can I find meaning in my life? For this reason, a primary focus of Will’s therapy sessions is centered around searching for meaning and purpose in our lives. This meaning can be found in moments of joy, sadness, despair, and fear. When we can find meaning for our experiences, humans are extremely resilient in walking through whatever struggles they are faced with. | |

Exploring Technology Addiction: Recognizing the Signs and Seeking Help
by: Eva Salazar Torres, MS, LPC
|
Technology addiction refers to various types of technology and its various methods of overuse. Our society’s reliance on technology is no secret. We use it to navigate to our next destination, connect with loved ones, keep track of our activities or calendars, and sometimes we use it as an escape. Its ease of access and constant tech updates could potentially trigger addictive behaviors among vulnerable populations.
With the different subsets of technologies and reasons someone may be using the tech, a true definition of technology addiction has not been recognized by academic literature. These addictive or pleasure-seeking behaviors still exist, so how much is too much?
