Ontario Invests in Protective Equipment Made in Mississauga
Guide Woodworking is investing nearly $300,000 in a new machining centre at its Mississauga facilities with support of nearly $75,000 from the Ontario Together Fund. The investment will help the company gain the capacity to design and produce about 500 acrylic protective barriers each month for workplaces, including reception areas and service counters.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) and Ontario Chamber Network called on all political parties to take bold action to strengthen business competitiveness as the economy continues to reopen and recover. In its Ontario Business Matters federal election platform, the OCC underscores that longstanding issues – including barriers to interprovincial trade, relatively low immigration quotas, financing challenges, and infrastructure gaps – must be addressed to strengthen Canada’s long-term resilience and recovery.

City of Mississauga Moving Forward with a Vaccination Policy for Employees
The City of Mississauga announced on August 26th, 2021 that it will proceed to implement a vaccination policy, which will require all employees and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 31, 2021.
Peel Public Health strongly recommends businesses include employee vaccination policies in their COVID-19 workplace safety plan
Peel Public Health has issued a strong recommendation that all employers in Peel review and update their COVID-19 workplace safety plans, which are required under the Reopening Ontario Act, to:

  • Consider the promotion of COVID-19 vaccination to workers,
  • Outline actions for unvaccinated workers, as necessary and
  • Speak to identifying workers’ vaccination status for outbreak prevention and control.
