BIG WIN FOR AUBURN

Tomorrow afternoon, football fans will celebrate the 128th edition of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry pitting the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs against the Auburn Tigers. This year, home-field advantage is not the only thing the Tigers will have going for them.

Thanks to a donation by legendary Auburn coach Pat Dye (1939–2020) and Nancy McDonald, the Auburn University Real Estate Foundation and the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment are now the proud owners of Crooked Oaks Farm in Notasulga, Alabama.

It’s no surprise that Cary Estes brought this outstanding story to my attention. A fixture on the sports desk at the late great Birmingham Post-Herald, Cary can still be found in the press box covering big games for the AP and Lindy’s Sports. Not only did Cary shepherd this assignment across the goal line, but he collared some outstanding images of Coach Dye from Auburn Sports Information Director Kirk Sampson. The results speak for themselves.
