Dear VAST Members,
VAST member Robin Huttash's "A Creative Art Studio & Gallery" is in the process of being re-developed into a co-operative artists' gallery. Currently all wall space at the co-op gallery has been rented out to artists who knew Robin and wanted to be part of the new co-op gallery structure.
VAST is the only arts organization thus far who has leased wall space at the co-op gallery.
Currently the VAST paintings being shown at the co-op gallery are those of artists who have entered the monthly mini-competitions at VAST meetings and placed first or second, or are a VAST calendar artist. Please drop by and see the new arrangement of the gallery. The address is 227 West Oak Street.
VAST is forming an "ad hoc" committee of interested members to formulate plans to allow the greatest number of VAST artists to display and sell their work.
This committee will select a liaison who will attend the co-op member meetings and represent VAST. The liaison will then write up a report of the meetings from VAST's perspective for the Exhibits Chairperson, Mindy Faubion.
There are some specific details to the lease arrangement: VAST will pay $200 a month for its space. The art work will meet a "juried" criteria to meet the committee's standards; additionally the artwork will also need to pass the co-op gallery's jurying process. The VAST wall space is 10 ft. wide by about 12 ft. tall with a hanging system in place for two-dimensional art. There is also a possibility for three additional feet in front of VAST's area, to be used for display of 3-D artwork. As art work sells, the member will pay a 15% commission to the Co-op on the sales price of the art. VAST itself will not be charging an additional commission under its current plan for the next six months. Details are subject to change.
Are you interested in serving VAST on this Co-op Gallery Committee?
Please submit your Name, Telephone Number, Daytime/Evening Availability for meetings, and Email to:
Please do so by Thursday March 12, 2020 at midnight.
Once the names of interested committee workers has been determined, a mutual date and time for the first meeting will be set. Please have in mind that your first and foremost task will be the equitable distribution of the space available among the artists who may wish to participate in this VAST benefit of membership.
Thanks for considering being a part of this committee.
