Britepaths and the Financial Empowerment Center at South County are excited to be involved in new opportunities to help community members build skills so they can grow in their current jobs or pursue better jobs.
In partnership with C.J. Coakley Co. Construction of Fairfax, our Workforce Development team is piloting an eight-week leadership training class for the company's leadmen to give them more tools and resources as they work with their crews. On the first day of class on February 17 (pictured above), our volunteer Robbie Mosley talked to them about leadership and what makes a good leader. Other topics they've been discussing include building and creating systems for positive teamwork, communication and performance management, and evaluations. Our Financial Empowerment staff and volunteers are also offering instruction on personal finance topics, including budgeting, saving, investing and retirement planning. We are grateful to our volunteers who are assisting with training, and to our partners from Truist and ReFrame Wealth for lending their expertise.
Our two spring Avenues to Career Training-IT cohorts launched recently, and our AWS re/Start and Google IT Professional Certification/CompTIA A+ learners are working to prepare for their certification exams. Our ACT-IT team has begun offering our learners who have received their certifications additional training opportunities in Network+, Linux+ and Security+ to help them build their skills to stand out in our region's labor market.
We continue to seek partners in the Northern Virginia business community to hire our Workforce Development clients. Contact Sally Meyer at 703.273.8829 to learn more.
