The library is CLOSED on Saturday, Oct. 8 for the holiday weekend.

Visit us at the Information Booth at the 35th Annual Highland Games at the Waldo House in Scotland on Sunday, Oct. 9. We will have shortbread, bottled water, and book bags to purchase.

125 Books for the Library's 125th Anniversary

Would you like to help us meet our goal of 125 new books? Make a $20 donation. We will add your name or a dedication of your choice to our wall, purchase a new book with the funds, and place a book plate recognizing your donation in the front of the book. Contact the library with any questions. 

Story Time


Every Thursday at 10 a.m., Miss Jenn will have stories, crafts, and more. We will have a special guest for Story Time on Thursday, Oct. 6 featuring  stories and music! 

Needlecraft Group


Do you crochet, knit, or quilt? We are meeting with other crafters on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Stop by with your latest project. All abilities are welcome.  

Public Access TV Info Session

Mike Sweet will be here to talk about creating your own public access tv show for Spectrum Channel 192. This program is free and open to the public.

Brooklyn, Canterbury

& Scotland Book Club

Join us on Tuesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. for a book discussion at Canterbury Public Library. This month we are reading and discussing If It Bleeds by Stephen King.  Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book. If you'd like to participate virtually, contact the library for the Zoom link.

Art Journaling


Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 5-7 p.m. to learn about this creative form of expression. Supplies will be provided - bring your imagination. We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

Family Game Night


Join us on Friday, Oct. 21 from 5-6 p.m. to play board games and have some fun. We'll have a variety of games to choose from.  We meet on the 3rd Friday of every month.

Drop-In Halloween Craft


Stop by the library the week of October 25 to make a spooky Halloween decoration. All supplies will be provided. 

Halloween Story Time


Join us on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. for an all-ages spooky story time.  Costumes encouraged.  Treats, not tricks, for all!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Help your child prepare for school by reading to them everyday. Join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the library.

It's easy:

  • stop by the library to pick up your packet.
  • keep a journal of all the books you share with your child
  • bring in your reading log for a prize to mark each milestone.
