I am proud to introduce the Kingsborough Beacon, the inaugural newsletter from the Office of Institutional Advancement, focusing on the power of philanthropy here at KCC. In the months to come, expect to see compelling stories from generous scholarship donors, standout alumni, remarkable student scholars, announcements for major events, key initiatives and much more!
As the recently appointed Vice-President of Institutional Advancement at Kingsborough Community College, I am most proud of returning to the place where my journey began and my dreams first blossomed. The concept of “It takes a Village” was ingrained in me by the professors, tutors, fellow classmates, and administrators who came together to ensure KCC was a welcoming and supportive oasis. A place where I would be challenged to think critically, and remain an engaged citizen of the campus and my community.
The lessons I learned from Kingsborough have stayed with me during the last 28 years, and each step in my career has been propelled by the investment this remarkable college made in me. It is an honor to come “full circle” in my Kingsborough journey!
In the 2023-24 academic year, I look forward to engaging with the entire college community, the borough of Brooklyn, the city and state of New York, corporations, private and public institutions and anyone interested in the diversity and talent that reside in this gem by the sea. It will be my mission to define and meet the needs of Kingsborough students, faculty, staff, its leadership and the campus as a whole.
The Kingsborough Beacon will also be a two-way street; the advancement team and I want to hear from you! Whether you are a generous donor, valued faculty, committed staff member, or another proud Kingsborough alum like me, we encourage you to share your story of what Kingsborough means to you and why you support the College.
I hope you continue to read Kingsborough Beacon in the months to come, and I also hope to see you at our Seaside Splash Fundraising Gala on June 6, 2024 to celebrate our 60th Anniversary!
Sincerely,
Nancy Lee Sánchez-Badillo, Ed.D.
