Arc Families and Friends,
It is Spring – that means it is time for Dancing with Our Diamonds and Challenger Baseball! I hope you are making plans to join us for our annual FUNdraiser, Dancing with Our Diamonds. This event pairs “celebrity” dancers from the community with dancers from The Arc of Greensboro, creating a fun and exciting afternoon. Join us on April 24 for dancing, music, laughs, drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Vote for your favorite dance couple, buy tickets for great raffle prizes and support the critical mission of The Arc of Greensboro!

With spring comes baseball! Registration is now open on our website for spring Challenger Baseball. The season starts on Saturday April 30. See Challenger Sports League section below for more information.

The Arc of Greensboro is moving! Our new location provides space for new activities including social events for different age groups, educational workshops and day programming. Stay tuned for opportunities to volunteer.

Summary
Challenger Sports League is a non-competitive, adaptive sports league for children and adults ages 5+ to participate for six consecutive weeks. Challenger sports offers both the athlete and the parent to partake in a relaxed, social atmosphere that is family oriented. The spirit of Challenger encourages a fun and supportive way to meet new people and be physically active in the community. A volunteer based "buddy system" is implemented to ensure each player has the opportunity to enjoy the game to their fullest potential.

Description
Challenger Baseball will start on April 30th and run until June 11th. More information will come about teams and times of games after registration. Registration will close on April 16th. All COVID-19 protocols from the Spring season will be in place including masks, no non-family volunteers, and no concessions.

We had a great March at arcBARKS preparing for lots of great Spring events. arcBARKS donated brochures and samples for events at Mawmaw’s Market in Kernersville, Whitestone Retirement Home in Greensboro, and also for The Human Race event at Labauer Park in Greensboro. arcBARKS bakers have diligently put together sample packs to help share our “Pawesome” treats with the community. In all we are donating over 1,000 sample packs to local events this Spring. In April you can find our samples and brochures at “Fetch” on April 9th. “Fetch” is a dog easter egg hunt that runs from 9am until Noon at Griffin Park in Greensboro. Registration is required, but admission is FREE. For more information you can email chamreece.diggs@greensboro-nc.gov.

arcBARKS will have a booth set up at “Must Love Dogs Spring Festival” on April 10th, from 12:30-4pm at Lebauer Park in Greensboro. At this event we will be handing out samples and selling our treats. arcBARKS will be donating a portion of our proceeds to Guilford County Animal Shelter’s “Have a Heart” Program. That initiative helps adopters with the costs associated with treating heartworm positive dogs. Staff from GCAS will be on hand at the festival to educate dog owners about the high heartworm risks here in North Carolina and prevention. This event will also have Food Trucks, a beer/cider garden, music, and dog egg hunt, pup painting, a photo booth and more! Come check us out and bring your pup!
