From the Founder

Life includes challenges and opportunities to navigate and overcome obstacles. Sometimes those challenges require negotiations, which can lead to changes, which can be good! Over the last several

months, we’ve been able to navigate challenges and resume the school lunch program at Motivated By

Love King’s Academy in Opoya village!

The farmers have been contributing food to the program, and working together in partnership with Dorcas Destiny International to ensure that the children have nutritious meals during their school day. The various hiccups have been resolved and the community is better and stronger after having maintained their diligence.

We are also planning for the February 2024 “Taking it to the Next Level” Missions Trip. The tentative itinerary is established, with final details to likely be in place soon. In addition to our usual time with the children at the schools, we will be making our second visit to the Langata maximum security women’s prison in Nairobi.

That new relationship will continue to flourish as we minister to the ladies and children there and they are a blessing to us! There are 2 separate facilities on the grounds: we visited the “remand” division last time to meet the women who had not yet been sentenced. I’ll let you know

whether we meet them again or the other ladies. Stay tuned!

And, it’s not too late to apply for the February 2024 team and begin to fundraise. The earlier the better

of course! Reach out to me or complete the contact form so we can send you an interest form and

application. We recorded the info meeting and can send it to you if you’d like.

If you follow us on social media, you should see the activities of the Educational Enrichment Program

team. They’ve modified their weekly plan to focus more on extracurriculars to make sure that the children have a more rounded school experience so it’s not only books, books, books. They’re ministering to the whole person.

We are SO grateful that you take the time to share in our joy and accomplishments by reading the

newsletter, following us on social media, telling others about us, keeping us in your prayers, and being a partner or donor!!! Every single dollar that you pledge, sow, and contribute helps us to do what we do. Our accomplishments are also YOUR accomplishments, and we are deeply grateful!

GO ON A MISSION TRIP AND HELP CHANGE THE WORLD

Thank you, thank you for all that you do in your community as a leader and a volunteer. You especially know that many of the important things that need to happen for our neighborhoods, schools, communities, etc can only happen when folk, like you and your friends, step up in organizations such as the PTA, School Board, religious organizations, Lions Clubs, libraries, and other civic, fraternal and social organizations. Busy people are busy making this a better place for all of us. Thank you again for all that you do.

Dorcas Destiny International is another important place where great volunteers are working hard for the benefit of women and children. Our volunteers provide thousands of hours improving the lives of our next generation and in turn we learn to be tolerant of other cultures and peoples. The goal of the trips is to bring this ever shrinking world together by offering help and resources to those in need and share the love of our heavenly Father.  

Invite others to join you as community and international volunteer heroes.
