Music at St. Raphael’s

At St. Raphael's you'll hear a variety of styles in the Prelude and Postlude offerings. On September 11 both Prelude and Postlude were by British composer John Rutter.

John Rutter is one of the most well-known composers, choral conductors and musical scholars of the late 20th century till today. Born on September 24, 1945, in England, Rutter is famous for not only his choral compositions, but also for his orchestral and instrumental works, compositions for TV and especially for his Christmas carols.

The prelude at St. Raphael’s on 11 September was an organ transcription of Rutter’s A Clare Benediction. Rutter wrote both the music and the words for this blessing. To pray the words as you let the music wash over you, click here . . .

May the Lord show his mercy upon you;

may the light of his presence be your guide:

May he guard you and uphold you;

may his spirit be ever by your side.

When you sleep may his angels watch over you;

when you wake may he fill you with his grace:

May you love him and serve him all your days

Then in heaven may you see his face.

May the Lord's loving kindness surround you;

keep you safe as you journey on your way:

May he lead you and inspire you

as he grants you the gift of each new day.

May he bless all your loved ones and cherish them;

A REQUEST FROM PARISHIONERS

We have parishioners who are in need of a shower seat.

Does anyone have a shower seat you could loan or donate for our friends’ use?

Needed: Oct. 22nd to Nov.12th.

CHOICE MARKET FOOD PANTRY

There is no slowdown in needing to eat! Most of those served by Choice Market are under-employed islanders with families. Please send your check or place non-perishable food items in the baskets in the church or parish hall.

Some of the items most needed are:

CONDIMENTS - full size bottles of mayo, mustard and ketchup.
CRACKERS - multi-pack boxes with several individually wrapped packs
JELLY - to go with all the peanut butter

CEREAL - Cereal is always appreciated.
TOILETRY ITEMS

Thank you for helping those less able to navigate current perilous economic conditions.

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS NEEDED

. . . for Coffee Hour after the Sunday service - to make coffee, bring some snacks, and generally be the host (or hostess) with the mostest for your St. Raphael family. Sign up for a Sunday in Comfort Hall.
