May is National Foster Care Month & Older Americans Month
The Children's Bureau's National Foster Care Month 2022 campaign "Relative and Kin Connections: Keeping Families Strong" recognizes the important role that members from all parts of child welfare play in supporting children, youth, and families. Learn more about this year's theme on strengthening relative and kin connections and the positive impact these relationships have on maintaining family and cultural ties for children and youth in foster care. Every May, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). In 2022, ACL is focusing on aging in place – how older adults can plan to stay in their homes and live independently in their communities for as long as possible. The 2022 theme is "Age My Way," an opportunity for all of us to explore the many ways older adults can remain in and be involved with their communities. Learn more.

HFC's #HumansOfDementia Storytelling Contest is back for its third year!
If you're a high school or college student, we invite you to join the Humans of Dementia movement. All you have to do is profile someone who is living with or has passed from Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. You can use written or photo storytelling - a winner will be selected from each category. The deadline for submission is May 15. ⁠Learn more about the contest today!

This stellar group of intergenerational practitioners, researchers, and experts from across the country are working alongside Generations United as we work to elevate and promote quality intergenerational programs that are inclusive and culturally, racially, and ethnically diverse. New Intergenerational Center for Arts & Wellness Coming in 2023
Congratulations to Senior Services in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on breaking ground on their Intergenerational Center for Arts & Wellness last week. The building will bring the generations together in new, exciting, and creative ways. Learn more.
Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network
Generations United's Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network (Network) is accepting individual technical assistance (TA) requests from professionals who work in systems or organizations that serve kinship families, particularly those that focus on aging, child welfare, disability, education, housing, Medicaid/Medicare, nutrition/SNAP, and TANF. Please fill out the contact form to request assistance from our technical assistance specialist, Shalah Bottoms.

"Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service is the union of an ordinary yard maintenance service and the commitment to establish an inspiring program to keep our youth (girls & boys) on a positive path while learning and understanding their value in society. RMLCS/RWLCS provides free lawn care to our elders, those who are disabled, single mothers, and our veterans, who do not have the time, resources, and/or money to take care of their yards." Webinar: Creating Partnership in Kinship Treatment Foster Care
On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the Capacity Building Center for States is hosting a virtual event, “Creating Partnership in Kinship Treatment Foster Care.” May is National Foster Care Month, and this year’s theme is “Relative and Kin Connections: Keeping Families Strong.” This event will highlight a Treatment Family Care pilot program in North Carolina and research from the African American Families and Kinship Care Lab at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Think Intergenerational - Funding Opportunities
The MIT AgeLab’s Opportunities for Multigenerational Exchange, Growth and Action (OMEGA) is recognizing the efforts that teens are making to create multigenerational connections. High school juniors and seniors in the U.S. are eligible to apply. Applications are due May 15, 2022. Learn more.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service invite researchers from diverse academic disciplines and institutions to produce policy-relevant research on food policy, food retail markets, consumer behaviors related to food purchases and diet, and USDA nutrition assistance programs. Applications are due by May 16, 2022. Learn more.

The Administration for Children and Families in the Department of Health and Human Services has released the fiscal year 2022 application for kinship navigator funding. Applications are due by May 20. For more information, see the Program Instruction, Attachment A, and Attachment B.

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention in the Department of Justice is offering a grant called Reducing Risk for Girls in the Juvenile Justice System, which provides funding for communities to support girls who are involved in the juvenile justice system. There are two categories of funding available under this solicitation: (1) project sites and (2) training and technical assistance.
The Grants.gov deadline is May 23, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The Application JustGrants deadline is June 6, 2022 at 8:59 p.m. ET. Learn more.

The NIH Office of the Director has released a Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity to support one RADx Tribal Data Repository (TDR), which will provide a repository for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) data. Applications are due by May 25, 2022. Learn more.

The Gladys Brooks Foundation provides support to libraries, educational institutions, and hospitals and clinics in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Funds support capital projects, including equipment and endowments. To apply, fill out an online Request Form. The form provides information on developing a Grant Proposal Letter, which must be submitted within two weeks of the Request Form. Grant Proposal Letters are accepted online until May 31, 2022. The Lewis Prize for Music has opened its 2023 Accelerator Awards application. Organizations that empower youth through music in after-school and out-of-school settings are encouraged to apply. The deadline is June 3, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. PT. Learn more.

The Administration for Community Living in the Department of Health and Human Services is offering State Program Enhancement Grants to support approaches that build on advancements made under previous Lifespan Respite Care Program grants. Applications are due by June 14, 2022. Learn more.

GrandFamilies: The Contemporary Journal of Research, Practice and Policy has released its latest issue. Our own Ana Beltran, director of the Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network, wrote one of the articles that is published in this edition of the journal. The issue is open-access.

SSI for Children Information Sheets (available in English and Spanish), developed by SAMHSA SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery) TA Center, present SOAR-specific information about the disability application process for children in an engaging, easy-to-understand manner. It is based on a comprehensive review of the literature on intergenerational programs and highlights evidence-based findings on how intergenerational programs benefit everyone. Staying Healthy Across Generations: Vaccines are Essential for All Ages is an infographic that illustrates that vaccines aren't just for kids - they protect all generations - especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
