The Story Behind Our Mission and the Difference You Can Make!

Almost 20 years ago, a group of parents and educators took a leap of faith because they believed that public education could do better. They opened the first Great Hearts school with an educational model that up until that time, could only be found behind the walls of private institutions. Their mission was to provide students with the best education possible through a robust liberal arts curriculum with small classroom sizes that would be led by dedicated faculty, and this is still our mission today!

What our founders didn’t know when they applied to be a charter school with this mission in mind, was that they would be funded significantly less than public district schools. With this realization, our founders knew that our education model and mission would only be sustainable with the support of our families--and this was the precise moment Community Investment was born.

  • The most recent numbers show that we receive approximately $1500 less per student/per year in public funding than our neighboring district schools.

  • We want 100% of our families to be part of this collective effort and participate in Community Investment!

Your contribution of $1500 per year or $125/month makes a difference; however, gifts of all sizes are meaningful.

Schedule your monthly gifts or make a one-time gift today through this link.

With much gratitude,

June Brockmeyer - Family Giving & Community Engagement Officer

See the attached flyer with volunteer opportunities for 7th – 12th graders that will expand their personal growth, tolerance, and acceptance. The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) desperately needs typically developing teen volunteers to participate in their PEERS program alongside their clients with ASD. The program meets every Thursday from 5 to 8 for 16 weeks.
