WHAT:

Contractors are expected to demolish and reconstruct the Lane Channel along southbound SR-55 to accommodate the freeway improvements. 

WHERE:

Between Dyer Road and MacArthur Boulevard. Crews will demolish the channel from north to south. 

WHEN:

Demolition activity is anticipated for 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning as early as

Monday, May 1, and continuing through late May.

Crews will begin reconstructing the new channel following demolition. Work on the Lane Channel is expected to continue intermittently through 2025.

Please be advised that this work may be loud. Dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather.

MacArthur Boulevard will be temporarily restriped underneath the freeway. Traffic will be shifted to the outside to make room for crews to work in the center median as they continue to reconstruct the bridge. MacArthur will remain open to traffic.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
