The Mercy End of Year Promise defines expected behavior at all events including Prom, Moving Up, Honors Convocation, Baccalaureate Mass, Graduation, and the Senior All Night Party. The Mercy End of the Year Promise form has been shared with your student and outlines expected behavior and potential consequences if guidelines are not met. This promise was due prior to Easter Break and must be completed by ALL graduating Seniors. Please confirm with your student to ensure that she has completed and submitted this required form.

PROM

Roostertail (100 Marquette Dr, Detroit, MI 48214)

Arrival: 7:00pm - 7:45pm (Students must arrive by 7:45pm)

End Time: 11:00pm

  • Student transportation needs to be planned accordingly.
  • When students enter, they will be greeted by members of Administration, so please be prepared for formal introductions.
  • A completed End of the Year Promise is required to attend.
  • If Seniors have not met other school obligations, (tuition, raffle, etc) the Business Office may hold prom tickets until fulfillment.

IMPORTANT SCHOOL DATES

Academic Course Work: May 12

English Final Papers are due by Friday, May 12 at 11:59pm. All Senior work must be submitted and graded by midnight (Friday, May 12) except for final exams/projects/presentations.

There will not be a “no testing time period” for Seniors, but once a final experience is completed classwork can be given and graded but further homework (work to complete, additional reading, preparation for a quiz or test) should not be extensive. This will allow students time to work on other presentations, and projects and prepare for final exams.

Senior Final Exams: May 15 and May 16

A final exam experience for Seniors needs to occur on one of these days. Seniors need to be present in class on May 15 and 16, only for final presentations, review days, or final exams/papers. This will be determined by the classroom teacher. Seniors will be able to come and go as they please but must enter and exit the lobby doors after school begins at 8:00. Some sample scenarios: 1) A Senior could have a review day on Monday, and the exam on Tuesday and therefore would be expected in class both days, 2) A final paper could be turned in on May 12 and not need to attend class on May 15 and 16 since the final experience is complete, 3) Final presentations are held May 15 and 16 and all students are expected to be in class all days to present or critique other student presentations, 4) A final exam is given May 16 and students do not attend on May 15.

Please note: If a final paper is due on one of the exam days the paper will be accepted between 8:00am-2:30pm on that day. It needs to be handed to the individual classroom teacher.

Mercy Day of Celebration

Wednesday, May 17

All Seniors are expected to be in attendance for the full day for Adviser Parties, Honors Convocation and Moving Up. Students will wear their caps and gowns and should sign-in with their Adviser by 8:00am. If your daughter is absent from the Honors Convocation, she will not be allowed to participate in the Moving Up Ceremony. We would like to invite Senior Parents/Guardians to join us for the Honors Convocation at 8:45am. Schedule for the day can be found here.

Baccalaureate Mass

Wednesday, May 17

Mercy HS Auditorium

Arrival: 5:30pm

Mass: 6:00pm

  • Family members are invited and welcome to attend.
  • Graduates are to wear their cap and gown along with proper dress-up attire.
  • Following Mass, the Senior Class will process to the courtyard and place a rose on the altar of Our Lady of Mercy. This procession, which began at the original high school campus in Detroit, is a long standing and beautiful tradition in Mercy's history.
  • Closing remarks will be shared by Senior Class Officers, Sr. Emily George Award winner, and Heart of Mercy recipient.
  • Reception for families in the Gym to follow the celebration with light appetizers.

Graduate Arrival: 1:00pm

Guest Arrival: 1:30pm

Ceremony: 2:00pm

  • Per communication here, each Senior will receive 8 graduation tickets and may pick up tickets beginning Wednesday, May 3. The graduate does not require a ticket to attend the ceremony.

  • You will find the graduation seating chart here in order for you to best plan your seating choice and meeting location following the ceremony. This information will also be shared with your student at graduation practice.
  • Due to the lack of security backstage where Graduates assemble before the ceremony, we ask all Graduates to leave their cell phones, purses, personal belongings with a family member.
