THE DEPARTMENT OF WASHINGTON

Greetings! Here is our second May Bulletin. The next Bulletin will be sent out on Friday, June 3rd. If you have an article, picture, or item of interest you would like to be included, please forward to Shelli Sterrett, Executive Assistant no later than Wednesday, June 1st.

DEPARTMENT NEWS

The Department of Washington HQ Office will be closed on Monday, May 30th in honor of the Memorial Day Holiday.

If you have been invited to speak at a Memorial Day Service, National has posted a sample speech that you can find here: American Legion 2022 Memorial Day Speech

When contacting Department via e-mail regarding Membership for a Post, please include the Post number and name in the "Subject" line. Thanks!

Don't forget, May 27th is National Poppy Day!  The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms. Wear a poppy to honor those who have worn our nation's uniform.

All donations received will be used by The American Legion Family for their programs that support veterans, the military community and their families.
