SGAP open for applications |
The Small Grant Accessibility Program (SGAP) is open for applications until September 10, 2024. SGAP aims to provide support to grassroots, unique and innovative cultural initiatives that respond to emergent needs or changes in the cultural sector, and create access and pathways for first-time and under-served applicants. This grant has a maximum grant request of $2,000 and is intended for small-scale initiatives.

Ministry event highlights value of arts, culture and heritage programs in the province |
On July 12, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport Laura Ross hosted an event celebrating Saskatchewan's arts, culture, and heritage. Speakers from the Western Development Museum, Wanuskewin, and the Saskatchewan Science Centre highlighted the impact of cultural programs on the province's quality of life. The event also showcased the Ministry’s support for these organizations.
SaskCulture CEO Dean Kush noted, "The Government’s partnership in the Sask Lotteries Trust Fund ensures ongoing funding for a variety of arts and cultural activities, fostering a vibrant Saskatchewan."

Creative Kids still accepting applications |
Families can apply by August 16 to Creative Kids for activities that begin this fall.
Creative Kids helps Saskatchewan children facing financial barriers participate in art, music, dance, theatre, and various cultural activities.

Multicultural Honours Awards open for nominations | This year, the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan's Multicultural Honours Awards include the new Leading Together Award, as well as the Saskatchewan Multicultural Leadership Award and the Multicultural Youth Leadership Award. The awards are now open for nominations for 2024. The recipients will be honoured at a November 16 celebration in Regina hosted by the Honourable Russ Mirasty, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, and Her Honour Donna Mirasty. Read more | Increase in cultural jobs in SK above national average | Hill Strategies released a new analysis of changes in the number of jobs in the arts, culture, and heritage in Canada. This analysis found that, between 2010 and 2022, Saskatchewan saw an increase in cultural jobs of 5%, above the national average of 4%. Overall, the changes in cultural jobs were very inconsistent across the country, with several provinces seeing decreases, especially since the pandemic. Read more | Podcast explores the possible impact of Bill S-279 on charitable sector | A recent episode of the CharityVillage Connects podcast brought together Senator Ratna Omidvar and other sector experts to discuss Bill S-279, what it would mean for charities, and the current state of equity and diversity in Canada’s non-profit leadership. Senator Omidvar proposed Bill S-279 earlier in the year to amend the Income Tax Act to require charities to report on the diversity of their boards in their annual filings. Read more | | |

Submitting grant follow-up reports after a funded project is complete is an important part of the funding process that you should plan from the start. Collecting information for the follow-up as you go along is a good way to write a report that effectively shows how your project met the goals of the funding program. | |

Medicine Wheel Workshops (City of Prince Albert - Artists in Communities)
On Wednesdays in July, join Lisa Halsall & Alex Powalinsky for Medicine Wheel workshops. This series of workshops uses self-reflection, beading, and medicine wheel teachings to help participants explore their strengths and resources in all aspects of their being. Workshops are for the Indigiqueer community and allies. Participants may attend all sessions or one session.
