Teacher Appreciation Week - Next Week!

Join Heritage H.A.N.D.S. in showing appreciation for our staff and teachers next week. Sign up to volunteer for various opportunities next week below and refer to the letter for daily activities:

Operation G.O.O.D. Update

We only have UNTIL 11:59PM TONIGHT and then Operation G.O.O.D. is complete! As of 2:30pm we are at $35,069. If we reach our school goal, we will have an ALL SCHOOL CELEBRATION on May 6 in the afternoon (otherwise it will be class, as usual). Please note that students HAVE to be registered in order to have their donations count towards their class goals. If you need some assistance with setting up a separate registration for EACH of your children, feel free to contact Lisa Turnbough (turnboughl@hcs-nl.com) or Nichole Early (earlyn@hcs-nl.com). You can also watch this online tutorial on how to do so:

Operation G.O.O.D. Volunteers Needed!

We need at least 1 more driver for our 2nd-4th graders and SEVERAL more drivers for our 5th-8th graders on the morning of May 6th. Please check out the signup genius and see how you can help! If we can't secure enough drivers, we'll have to cancel our off-site service portions.
Employment Update

Many of you have inquired about how we are progressing in filling Lisa Turnbough's Finance Director role. We are happy to report that Brenda Wichhart has accepted the position of Administrative/Office Manager and will be taking on many of the finance roles that Lisa had previously managed. We’ve also contracted with TDT Financial to support payroll, accounts payable, and several general accounting functions that Lisa also previously managed. In this way, Brenda will continue with some of her previous duties and assume the new ones as she continues to support Heritage. We are fortunate to have such talented staff as Brenda and Kathy in the office who can step into these kinds of roles. We’ll be using the remainder of the school year and the early part of the summer to fully transition Brenda and TDT into these roles. Lisa's last official day as consultant will be May 19 with Brenda officially stepping into the new role on May 23rd so in the meantime they'll be working together to get up to speed. We’ll also be advertising for a part-time Administrative Assistant to assume some of the work that Brenda was previously doing. If you know of someone looking for a part-time (20-ish hours) administrative role, please have them contact the office.
Thank you from Mrs. Munson

Thank you to all those who helped to make our First Annual Art Show a success last Thursday (April 21st)!! It was such a blessing to see all the families and students together to celebrate! Students were so proud of their artwork and have their picture taken alongside their artistic achievements. The Heritage Alumni Corner was all a buzz that evening, and the work God is doing through their artistic talent was wonderful to see! Thank you, parents, Heritage H.A.N.D.S., students and staff, you continue to give of your time and it amazes me how encouraging and generous you are! Thank you so much for all the help with choosing and mounting artwork, prepping the art displays, gym set-up, making and bringing cookies, and those that helped with striking everything. SPECIAL THANKS to Darcie Ahrens and Katrina Cannon for all your time and gathering people to help, as well as, being an “A” team that was so easy and fun to work with! Also, thank you to Teresa Shymansky (somethingbeautiful.org) for loaning us the beautiful vase and flowers as a focal point of the art show.
Blessings, Mrs. Tresa Munson - Fine Arts Director
What Happened in Chapel this Week?

This week we concluded our Biblical Throughline of exploring what it means to be a Community Builder. In PreK -4th grade Chapel, Rhonda Crosser (Parkview Church) shared with students that part of being in a community means that we have rules to follow to care for us and keep us safe. She shared that God also has rules for us to live by that help keep us safe. She shared with students the 10 Commandments and talked about how following God’s commands isn’t a punishment or a burden but designed to allow us to live in His design for us.

In Middle School, students spent time considering what it means to be in community in their small group Bible Studies.

We pray that as this month ends our students will continue to make much of Jesus and that as we work, live, and play in our communities that those we encounter see Jesus in us.

Heritage MS Drama Presents...

An Adaptation of And Then There Was One. This spoof, of the famous Agatha Christie stage mystery, is all comedy, filled with hilarious sight gags and dialogue. Ten people are brought together by mysterious invitation to the Reef Mansion located on a tiny, isolated island. Not one of them knows the host, and he is nowhere to be found. Just as each chocolate bunny inexplicably disappears from the mantel one by one, the guests begin to mysteriously die one by one. Good thing Inspector Miles is among the guests! Will he be able to solve this farcical case? Come find out Friday, May 13th at 7:00 PM in the Heritage Gym. Doors will OPEN at 6:30. *This is a free event.
2022 Talent Show

The 2022 Talent Show is coming up on the last day of school, May 27th. Rehearsal days will take place in the gym on May 10 and 11 after school. Students who sign up must have their acts polished and performance ready when they come to rehearsal. If acts are not polished and ready, students will not be allowed to perform at the talent show. Students may sign up for a maximum of two acts. Contact Miss Griess, Mrs. Munson or Mrs. Super if you have any questions!
GreenState Give & Grow to Schools

From April 1-30, 2022, GreenState Credit Union members (new or existing) will again have the opportunity to make a donation (minimum $25 up to $500 per household) to Heritage through GreenState Credit Union's annual Give & Grow Schools Matching Program. Member gifts will be deducted from respective checking or savings accounts and GreenState will match member donations up to $7,500 for Heritage Christian School.

Missions

Many of you may recognize these two faces, but for those of you that don’t… Miss Mysnyk is a former Heritage student and teacher, and she is currently serving as a global worker. Anani is the sweet boy from Togo that we sponsor as a school through Compassion International. We encourage you to be praying for them, as we continue to pray for them at school with your children. Students will be given a card (see below) to remind them to pray as well. Students are welcome to contribute towards Anani’s sponsorship (through Compassion International) through giving money at chapel during offering. Thank you!

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

Please pray for:
·        Protection (physical, spiritual, emotional, etc.)
·        Boldness (to share Jesus authentically and powerfully)
·        Peace (people of peace to help share the Good News)
·        Assurance (that God is with them and is for them)
