October Commission Meeting | |

Our next Full Commission regular meeting will begin at 5:30 ET on Monday, October 23. Members of the public are invited to observe the meeting live online on CAH’s YouTube channel.
Members of the public may request three minutes to speak during the public comment period held at this meeting. Requests must be submitted by no later than Noon ET on Thursday, October 19. Written comments may also be submitted by no later than Noon ET on Thursday, October 19, as an alternative, or in addition to, spoken comments. Public comments, both spoken and written, will be included in the public record of the meeting.
This meeting is governed by the Open Meetings Act. Please address any questions or complaints arising under this meeting to the Office of Open Government at opengovoffice@dc.gov.

FY 2024 Grant Notifications | |

Funding recommendations were presented by staff at last week’s Full Commission Regular Meeting on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Those recommendations were discussed and approved by CAH Commissioners. 1,025 grants totaling over $26.6 million were awarded to individuals and nonprofit organizations in the District of Columbia.
A friendly reminder regarding award notices, which was shared in each grant programs' Request for Applications, in Section VI A. We will notify applicants of the results of their application and the applicable award disbursement process with a:
- letter of intention to award
- letter of ineligibility, or
- letter of denial.
These notifications will be sent via the applicant’s email as it appears in the CAH Grants Portal. Notifications for the majority of grant programs will be sent by close of business on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, except for the following:
- FY 2024 Art Bank Program applicants will receive notifications on, or shortly after, Tuesday, November 1, 2023.
- FY 2024 Capital Projects applicants will be notified later in November 2023.
CAH grants are awarded on a competitive basis. Grant applications are reviewed and scored by independent advisory panels with final award determinations made by the CAH Commissioners. Additional grant awards and grant opportunities may be announced later in FY 2024.

DC Art Now 2023 Gallery Exhibition | |

DC Art Now 2023 is the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities’ annual exhibition of selected work by finalists for the FY24 Art Bank Program grant. It features many of the most exciting emerging and established artists working in the DC metropolitan region today.
Stop by our 200 I (Eye) Street, SE Gallery, and see DC come to life through photography, sculpture, painting, printmaking, textiles, and more! The gallery is free and open to the public Monday to Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm.

National Arts and Humanities Month | |
October is National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM)—a collective recognition of the importance of culture in America. NAHM was launched by Americans for the Arts more than 30 years ago as National Arts Week in honor of the twentieth anniversary of the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities. In 1993, it was reestablished by Americans for the Arts and national arts partners as a month-long celebration. | |

As the only organization that is actively gathering data for DC’s arts and humanities community, DC Collaborative launched the DC Co-lab in 2021 to advance collective impact goals and enhance its unique data and evaluation efforts. The Co-Lab fostered collaborative action by gathering diverse stakeholders to share useful feedback, convene for meaningful and relevant conversations, and ideate future community and partnership opportunities.
Now under new leadership, DC Collaborative is refocusing and re-launching the Co-Lab. If you participated previously or are hearing about it for the first time, they invite you to come learn about this renewed initiative. This virtual program launch also features Marc Bamuthi Joseph and data expert Meenakshi Das.
Join them on Thursday, October 5, from 3 to 5 pm.
