What’s New at Linden Tree

Flo,

Time flies and July isn’t the only thing coming to an end soon...

  • Our final summer concert is this Thursday at 11am and we’re lucky to have the incomparable James Henry & House of Samba Kids closing out our concert series. James is fantastic and will get everyone–and I mean everyone–dancing!
  • Our Find Waldo hunt wraps up this Sunday with our Party & Prize Raffle. If you turned in a passport, be sure to come to the party so you can win prizes from the generous local businesses you visited AND take pictures with Waldo himself.
  • Our Access Books Bay Area book drive is also wrapping up this Sunday. They provide public elementary schools in under-resourced districts with new books and a refreshed library space, so stop in to buy books or bring in your very-lightly-used books and drop them in our in-store blue donation mailbox (or make a cash donation).

See you at the store,

Chris

📅 Upcoming Events

This Thursday at 11am is our last concert of the summer! All summer long, we’ve been featuring some the Bay Area’s best kids' musicians and this week, we’re rockin’ with James Henry & House of Samba Kids. Don’t miss your chance to dance and sing along with us in front of the store!

Find Waldo Party & Raffle

Sunday, July 28 at 4:00pm

Time is running out to find Waldo, but you can still pick up a passport at Linden Tree and find Waldo hiding at more than 25 downtown businesses. Is he taking a sewing class at Needles Studio? Eating a croissant at Manresa Bread? Go find him and see! Once you’ve found Waldo at more than 20 businesses, bring your passport back to our store to receive your reward.

Then come back to the store this Sunday at 4pm for our raffle giveaway with goodies donated by the businesses you visited, as well as a visit from the mystery man himself and other characters from the WLU (Waldo Literary Universe)!

Thursday, August 8 at 6:00pm

Join us as we welcome author Kara H.L. Chen on Thursday, August 8 at 6pm to celebrate the launch of her charming new YA rom-com, Asking for a Friend. Kara will be in conversation with author Keely Parrack.

Juliana Zhao is absolutely certain of a few things: she is the world’s foremost expert on love, and she is going to win the nationally renowned Asian Americans in Business competition. When Juliana is unceremoniously dropped by her partner and she’s forced to pair with her nonconformist and annoying frenemy Garrett Tsai, everything seems less clear. Their joint dating-advice column must be good enough to win and secure bragging rights within her small Taiwanese American community.

Juliana always thought prestige mattered above all else, that her future could only be paved with immaculate report cards and Ivy League degrees. But as she argues with Garrett over how to best solve everyone else’s love problems and faces failure for the first time, she starts to see fractures in this privileged, sheltered worldview. With the competition heating up, Juliana must reckon with the sacrifices she’s made to be a perfect daughter—and whether winning is something she even wants anymore.

After a magical kiss at the prom, best friends Tan Lee and Winter Woo agree to cool it off, a plan that goes awry when their parents jointly head off to Hawaii and leave Tan and Winter to babysit Tan's sister Sana together. If that isn't complicated enough, Tan's ex-girlfriend from Shanghai returns with money stolen from her billionaire father and thugs on her heels. Tan soon finds himself on the run, navigating international hackers and trying to protect his friends, family, and sister—and his own heart.
