This year we are pleased to announce the following award recipients:

Start of Service Information!

Service starts beginning this weekend and next week, February 4 - February 10 for most service activities. To prepare for service, check out the reminders below! (If you are unsure of your start date, please refer back to your GivePulse registration or reach out to service@jcu.edu.)

Expectations:
  • No cell phone use during service activities
  • Go by first name only
  • Be fully present
  • Complete Reflection (emailed after service)

What to Wear:
  • Wear appropriate, professional clothing.
  • Close-toed shoes.
  • JCU wear is fine if the context allows it.
  • Mask for in-person service if the site requires it.
  • Do not wear tank tops, ripped jeans, yoga pants, sweats, shorts, or open-toed shoes.
  • If you have an active service activity, it is fine to wear athletic attire. No yoga pants or tanks.

Where to Meet the Van:
  • At the crosswalk between the O'Malley building and Grasselli Library (Listed below).
Welcome to CSSA, Ursula!

Ursula Rossman has previous experience volunteering and working as a social worker with various populations and non-profit agencies. Prior to joining CSSA, she worked at the City of Cleveland Department of Aging where she assisted low-income seniors in the city of Cleveland to connect with services and helping agencies. Ursula lives in Shaker Heights with her husband and their three high schoolers. She is happy to join CSSA team in its mission and incredible work. She has enjoyed her first week at CSSA and is loving meeting students and hearing about all that they are involved in.

Graduating seniors planning for life beyond graduation, check out City Year! Because of my service-learning experience, I consider those cast aside, forgotten, and ignored by society in my daily life. Because of my service-learning experience, my role has been able to shift from being a giver to someone in need to a mutual human being navigating life with people outside of my immediate circle. I apply this learning in the way in which I budget each month making sure to set aside what I can to donate to important causes and organizations I care about.
