Draft of the 2024 Ministry Plan Presentation, August 27
All adult Sunday School classes are invited to a special presentation of the draft version of the 2024 Ministry Plan on Sunday, August 27. The presentation, which will outline highlights of the draft version of the 2024 Ministry Plan, will take place at 10:00 am in the Fellowship Hall.
Copies of the draft version of the 2024 Ministry Plan will be available in the church office or by emailing David Jennings (jenningsdaj@gmail.com) following the presentation to the Diaconate on Sunday, August 20. (Copies will also be available the day of the presentation.)
The presentation of the draft version of the 2024 Ministry Plan is an opportunity for members of the congregation to ask questions and to make recommendations concerning the proposed Ministry Plan. According to the First Baptist Church Ministry Plan Development Policy, “any suggested revisions by members of the congregation are submitted to the respective committee(s) following the information meeting.” It is also advisable to notify the Stewardship Committee of any suggested revisions so the committee can follow up with committees on suggested revisions. The Stewardship Committee will review the final draft of the proposed Ministry Plan the first of October before it is presented to the Diaconate for approval.
The proposed Ministry Plan will be presented to the congregation for a vote at the Annual Meeting on November 19.

Wednesday Night Clean Up Crew Still Needs Members
Have you attended Family Night Meals this spring? Did you enjoy them? Do you want Family Night meals to continue after the summer break? In order for meals to continue, the Wednesday Night Catering Crew needs a couple of people each week to make sure the food is put into the refrigerator following the meal. If enough people volunteer, each volunteer will give an hour or less once every two or three months. Volunteers do not have to wash the plates, cups, or silverware. All that is needed is to secure the food. To sign up, please contact the church office or Diana Edwards (554-2563)

August and September Building Blocks
Building Blocks meet each Wednesday evening from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm. A Building Block is six to eight weeks long, with some blocks addressing one topic for three to four weeks and another topic for the next three to four weeks. Building Blocks are designed to build your faith and help you grow as a disciple of Christ. FBC staff welcomes suggestions about offering for future blocks.
The Purpose Driven Life
Would you like to take a spiritual journey as with a group? In this book study, Bennie Roberts will lead attendees through the five purposes of Rick Warren’s best-selling book The Purpose Driven Life. This eight week study will take place in Room 208.
August Only: Stewardship and Faith
Stewardship is one of those topics that tends to scare us. This four week series, led by Stewardship Committee chair Gene Russell, encourages us to expand our view of stewardship to be about more than just tithing, and how it can affect our daily lives as well. This option will take place in Room 210.
September Only: Equally Called
Equally Called is a four week video and curriculum resource developed jointly by Baptist Women in Ministry (BWIM) and CBF. This curriculum will help participants to review the biblical support for women to minister and lead freely in the church, to identify obstacles women in ministry and church leadership face, and to consider ways to help women and girls thrive as they hear and fulfill God’s call. This option will take place in Room 210.
Growing on Grace: Effective Parenting in a Defective World
Raising children is a challenge in today's world. Peers and pop culture exert never-ending pressure on kids. Every day they are bombarded with the pressures and influences of drugs, sex, and violence. Often, parents feel helpless when the corrupt principles of this defective world seem to contradict every godly principle they try to instill in their children, but the good news is that God has a plan for effectively raising children and you can learn it! In this DVD and book study you will learn universally applicable principles, apply practical lessons about discipline, and understand and implement simple biblical truths. This option will take place in Room 211.
Chancel Choir
Were you inspired after seeing the 5th Sunday Presentation in July? Consider joining the chancel choir in a four or eight week trial run. Rehearsal is held in the choir room below the sanctuary, Room 100.

This Sunday at 2:00 pm. you have the opportunity to participate in one of the ways that distinguishes Baptists from other denominations. The congregational meeting to discuss a tabled motion is an example of congregational governance. Baptist believe that Christ is the head of the church and that each church is autonomous, i.e., not governed by an outside group. Baptist pastors and deacons are servant leaders, not authoritarian leaders. Each member of a Baptist church has an equal voice in matters of church governance. Be present Sunday at 2:00 pm to let YOUR voice be heard.
