EVENT SATURDAY: Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity Restore
On behalf of the Sociology/Criminology Club
The Sociology/Criminology Club has partnered with Habitat for Humanity for a volunteer opportunity. During this time we will be assisting with cleaning and reorganizing the local Habitat for Humanity Restore. Pizza will be offered for lunch. In order to get an estimate of how many will volunteer we ask you fill out the form below by Thursday, March 9th. If you need a ride to and/or from the Restore please say so in the comment section of the form and we will work out a car pooling system.
The Music Department proudly presents a cabaret event entitled, "Destination unKnown," a show about getting out there to see the world! We are excited to present our musical in collaboration with Media and Entertainment. The event is the culmination of hours of hard work learning music and choreography that is sure to delight all ages. The cast is made up of students, CSUP staff members, and community members. Tickets can be purchased in the Music Office, or by calling Chad Beery at 719-549-2809. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 & under, $5 for high school and college students with a current ID. Seating is limited but some tickets may be available for purchase at the door.
There are three shows, Friday and Saturday, March 10 & 11 at 7pm and Sunday, March 12 at 2pm.

Thunderwolf Recreation (Rec Center) - Group Fitness Classes

Thunderwolf Recreation is excited to start Group Fitness classes on Monday, January 23.
Yoga classes will be offered evenings at 5:15pm (Mon thru Thurs) and also on Tues & Thurs mornings at 9am. "Total Body Workout" (muscle toning & conditioning) will be held at 12noon on Tues & Thurs. Office Yoga (Zoom only) is offered at 12:30pm Tues & Thurs. Fitness classes are open to all fitness levels - with modifications ("easier or harder") shown.

The 9th Annual Spring Symposium: A Celebration of Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity invites undergraduate and graduate students from Colorado State University Pueblo to present their original research, scholarly and creative products to the university and public. The Spring Symposium will take place Friday, April 7, 2023 in the LARC (LINC), with the mission of being a forum for dissemination and discussion of scholarly ideas and to foster interaction among students, faculty and the local community.
Please read the 2023 Spring Symposium Call for Abstracts for complete information. Deadline to Submit Presentation Abstract is Monday, March 27th, by midnight. Presentation abstracts submitted by deadline will be given full consideration. Presentations submitted after the deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Given the explosion of interest in AI both within and outside academia, the Boulder faculty will be holding a series of colloquia this spring. Invited faculty will give informal presentations and engage in open discussions of topics related to classroom uses (and abuses) of software such as ChatGPT, but topics are not limited to pedagogy, and we imagine presentations focused on faculty research areas, as well, for example, questions in philosophy, computer science, religious studies, and the arts.

Earn ACADEMIC CREDITS this summer while studying abroad in Baja Mexico at the CSU Todos Santos Center in either EPER 480 (Business of Tourism) or EPER 162 (Personal Health). These experiential learning courses includes surfing, snorkeling with sea lions, sea kayaking, and interacting with the local Mexican community. The EPER 480 course counts as an upper division Business “elective” course and the EPER 162 course counts as a GEN ED “ST”. FULL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE.
Mandatory Informational Meetings are on Monday, March 13th from 4:30-5:30pm (EPER 480) and from 5:30-6:30pm (EPER 162) in PE 240. The tuition cost is billable to your student account and Financial Aid eligible. The tuition includes 3 academic credits, field excursions, ground transportation, lodging, and food. Students must purchase airfare separately.

We'll be talking about the wars and negotiations that transformed our region from the Spanish Empire to Northern Mexico to the Southwest United States - without consulting the indigenous peoples of the region. From battlefields to council rooms, we'll consider American, Mexican, and indigenous perspectives and give students the opportunity to delve into aspects that matter to them most. The Spring 2023 online section of POLS 101 American National Politics is asynchronous – so it can be made to fit your work week. But its weekly lecture-and-discussion session is also live, so when your schedule allows you can either attend in person or live-stream on Zoom. (Otherwise, just watch the recording.) Enroll is this HYFLEX course to learn all about how America’s government and politics really work. The course analyzes party polarization, congressional gridlock, the Constitution, Supreme Court, civil liberties, civil rights, political economy, public policy, and many other essential topics. Sociology of Pueblo: A People's History
This class will focus on the localized histories of Pueblo, through the lens of race and ethnicity, exploring sociological concepts such as collective memory, oral histories, and community resiliency. We will be exploring the archives, conducting interviews, and taking field visits to 3 museums in Pueblo to look at topics such as: the borderlands, immigration, art and folklórico, labor, mental health, and more. Ever wonder how the detectives and scientists solve a crime on “CSI”? If you want to be a detective, crime scene investigator, or forensic scientist, then this class is for you. Forensic science is one of the most important aspects of any criminal investigation – forensic scientists help solve crimes and puzzles through scientific means, testify as experts in court, and help collect evidence at crime scenes.
Come take CRIM 413 - Patterns of Homicide on Fort Carson Army Post. This class examines the rates, types, patterns, and provides explanation of homicide in the United States and selected other countries. This class will be on Thursday nights from 5:30pm-8pm with Tiffany Grainger in Room 205 at Fort Carson. Sign up through your PAWS account or contact the Fort Carson CSU Rep at 719-586-6930.
