Senior Phoebe Kraus had two pieces of art that were selected for The Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. Both of Phoebe's pieces were accepted into the regional level show, and were judged against winners of 15 regions across the state. The state show is open to all 1,112 high schools in Ohio and out of 6,000 pieces entered, only 1,000 were selected as regional winners. Congratulations to the students who received a SFD scholarship for the 2022-2023 school year (see listing here).
Did You Know? Our amazing faculty and staff contributes each year to our Faculty and Staff Giving Drive, which supports six Tradition of Excellence Faculty scholarships. Read more below about Time, Talent and Treasure: What that Really Means to Teachers at St. Francis DeSales High School.
We have all heard the phrase ‘time, talent and treasure’ countless times. Those who take up the vocation of teaching know they will be expected to share their time and talent with their students each day – but the teachers at St. Francis DeSales High School have embraced this phrase to its entirety. Beginning in 2011, the faculty and staff began contributing to an annual giving drive, and since that time have raised an astounding $148,293. In 2014, the Tradition of Excellence Faculty scholarship was established, providing a $1,000 scholarship to the recipients. In total, 46 students have received this scholarship. Other money raised during the Faculty and Staff annual giving drive helps fund additional scholarships at the school that have been named in honor of past faculty members, and supports a student aid lunch fund.
St. Francis DeSales High School alumni, parents, and students have always known how special the teachers are at this exceptional institution. Principal Dan Garrick said it perfectly in a note to the DeSales staff, “Our students are blessed to witness the beauty of Christ's love through your daily service. Thank you for demonstrating what it means to be a Servant Leader.”

Lord God, in your great mercy you sent your Son to pour out himself for our sins. By his blood, he paid the price that we are unable to pay. May we always give thanks for so great a gift of love and may we in turn show your love and mercy to our neighbors. Give us the gift of your healing forgiveness to soften our hearts to be able to love as you do. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
