LOVE joyfully! CONNECT deeply! SERVE generously!
WE EXIST THAT ALL MAY KNOW JESUS CHRIST & BECOME HIS FULLY DEVOTED FOLLOWERS.
This week, ACT (Anne Arundel Connecting Together) organization, including Joy Reigns, gathered together to begin to share the stories we have been hearing during our listening sessions. Themes are beginning to emerge around youth mental health, affordable housing, transporation and food security. By the end of the listening campaign we will have listened collectively to over 1000 people in Anne Arundel County.

A Message from Pastor Sara

This week has been a major milestone for the Anchored in Hope AiH campaign! We applied for a federal safety grant to help us achieve one of our financially unmet AiH goals of a new vestibule/entrance for the worship space.

The Congregation Council priorities for AIH remain the same for 2023 and 2024, in order:
  1. Renovations for Journey to Joy Recovery House - DONE!
  2. Continue to pay off mortgage and roof loan debt.
  3. Property Assessment for long term planning.
  4. And work on other various property enhancements as money becomes available (such as parking lot, vegetation, sign, and vestibule, etc)

This grant would allow us to advance the vestibule work sooner than anticipated. If we don't get the grant we will continue to keep this priority farther down on the list.

Now what's next you might ask? I need your help. Please pray for those reading the many grants that will be received and for them to have wisdom and discernment that comes from God. I believe all the grants will be deserving. I imagine they have a very difficult job ahead of them. Maybe even more difficult than the last minute technical issues we had (and trust me that was awful). We will know more in late summer or early fall.

If you are new to Joy Reigns and would like to know more about our three year Anchored in Hope campaign please let myself, Paula Emminizer or Melissa Fullerton know. We are almost to the one year mark of the three year campaign. If you have pledged, how are you doing at staying on target for your planned pledge?

If any would like to make an extra contribution or a new contribution toward the campaign to help us reach our goals and project dreams faster, you can make a gift now. And to all, thank you for your giving to AiH above and beyond your regular giving to Joy Reigns!

God's Peace,
Pastor Sara

Parking Help Needed THIS SATURDAY Thru May 20th

Due to an accident on Sunday afternoon, one of the light poles fell in the parking lot. BGE has been contacted and the work ticket is scheduled for the earliest time available: May 20th!

This creates traffic flow issues especially for Joy Thrift and Baby Pantry, when traffic is coming in and out of the parking lot continually. Would you consider helping for one or more of the shifts to help with parking and traffic flow?

Mondays 9am -12 noon
Thursdays 5 pm - 8 pm
Saturdays 9 am - 12 noon

DIY Communion Set - DEADLINE EXTENDED ACT TODAY!

There are only 3 spots left in the design studio and we would love to have you join us!

Some are making a set because :

  • they live too far away to attend regularly onsite.
  • they travel for large chunks at a time.
  • they have health issues.

If you are not interested in making it yourself but would still like a set, someone else from Joy Reigns can make it for you.

Sunday May 21st
1-3 pm

Whatever your reason for being a regular online worshipper, this communion set will connect you to this faith community, not only everytime you use it but at the event itself as we paint together!

Little Food Pantry

The Little Food Pantry, that blue box at the edge of our parking lot, needs some love! It operates on a “donate what you can, take what you need” basis and right now the need is great! Canned or boxed non-perishable items, especially canned tuna and canned chicken, are needed. No bagged items please. Donations may be put directly into the box or placed on the pew at the back of the worship space.
