Luke 4:21-30 (New Revised Standard Version)


21 Then he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

 

22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?” 


23 He said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘Doctor, cure yourself!’ And you will say, ‘Do here also in your hometown the things that we have heard you did at Capernaum.’” 24 And he said, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in the prophet’s hometown. 25 But the truth is, there were many widows in Israel in the time of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a severe famine over all the land; 26 yet Elijah was sent to none of them except to a widow at Zarephath in Sidon. 27 There were also many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.” 


28 When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with rage. 29 They got up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they might hurl him off the cliff. 


30 But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way.

4. Acree, Mary -- at Franklin Park in Teravista; recovering from an infection

5. Camarillo, Rudy -- Mike Castillo, husband of Rudy's cousin Norma, passed away 1/11 from COVID complications; prayers also for Rudy's friend Eli, whose father Eliseo Rodriguez died

6. Cueva, Rafael and Deb -- Rafael's mother Gladys is ill with COVID and remains in ICU

7. Fennimore, Nancy -- niece Thresa is undergoing radiation treatments for cancer

8. Glover, Linda -- knee replacement surgery was January 24; she is recovering at home

9. Harmel, Venessa -- has been approved by the CCSW for ordination; praise God!

10. Jenkins, Bob -- Bob's sister, Janet, is receiving treatments for melanoma

11. Kessler, Jim -- continues to recover from heart surgery and back injury

12. Kienzle, Kameron and Jennifer -- recovering from COVID

13. Knight, Pam -- sister-in-law Bonnie Cook-Cassens began immunotherapy recently

14. Maybaum, Liz -- recent COVID; has tested negative

15. Nichols, Martha -- son Chris's one kidney has only partial function

16. Osteen, Amy and Steve -- brother-in-law, Mike Murphy, being treated for pancreatic cancer

17. Pollock, Justin -- recovering from COVID

18. Preston, Linda and Randy -- Randy's sister Rita broke her leg badly in a fall and has had two surgeries to repair it

19. Scarborough, Carrol -- cataract surgery scheduled for 2/15

20. Sherry, Bea -- settling in at Franklin Park in Teravista

21. Jill Toomey - currently in hospital being treated for a DVT in her leg

22. Tucker, Gary and Amy -- grandson James (13) continues to make good progress following an automobile accident and hospitalization (he is home); Gary's brother Terry is being treated for cancer

23. Walker, Rod & Lisa -- Lisa is seeking to be put on a kidney transplant list

24. Whitley, Bea -- hand surgery was January 26; she is recovering at home

25. Wilson, Phyllis -- sister Jane Hudson being treated for kidney cancer

26. York, Tasha -- Tasha's mother's new living situation--prayers for a good transition
