June Issue | 2024

Hello Readers, June is National Homeownership Month, a perfect time to celebrate the upcoming completion of our 45th home on Orchard Way! Soon we’ll be handing over the keys to Angela so she and her children can finally move into their new home. This is truly one of the highlights of all of our efforts at Habitat! Because of your generous support these special moments are possible. Thank you! Together, we’re unlocking the joy of homeownership for more people each year.

I've included a new graphic we’ve developed that outlines the path to homeownership and below are a few pictures of construction activities from Orchard Way.

In Gratitude,

Lorraine Larson

Executive Director

The journey to Habitat Homeownership involves many steps along the path. Angela is making her way to the final step. Click on the graphic to see how it all works!

CONSTRUCTION NEWS: Angela's Home Update

We are in the final stretch of completing Habitat home #45!

The interior trim, doors, drywall and interior painting are all done. PG&E power and gas have been installed. Adding the porch has been a fun challenge. This week we install cabinets, finish electrical and plumbing, appliances, etc. Last week local business, S. Miller Paving installed the road and driveway. Solar and flooring are next!

This month, we said goodbye to Jennifer Cordova and we’re excited to welcome Jason Miles into the role. Jason was born and raised in Yuba City and lives there with his wife and youngest daughter. His older children are on their way in life, one as a math teacher in Seattle and the other as a law school student at UC Davis.

Jason started his career at World Vision, where he served in various roles, including Executive Director of Development for the San Francisco Bay area region. He has also served as Vice President of Advancement at Northwest University, his alma mater. He holds a graduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in International Non-Profit Management and undergraduate degrees in biblical studies and Organizational Management.

Volunteer Spotlight:

We would like to recognize our awesome ReStore volunteer, Bill Lawrence who came to us through the PatchWorks volunteer program. Bill joined the program in 2021 and has dedicated over 445 hours volunteering at Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Earning the nickname “Bicycle Bill”, Bill takes great care to make sure that all the bikes donated to the ReStore are clean and in working order.

“We appreciate Bill’s attention to detail, and his friendliness with our customers and donors. He is a very valued and respected member of our volunteer team!” David Simmons, ReStore GM
