Showing off St. Nicholas and its new Priest in Charge

On Saturday, July 13, we'll have an Open House with light refreshments. This event is open to the entire community, and the more the merrier! We'll need church members there to act as hosts and guides, so plan on coming yourself and invite your friends!

(If your sense of stewardship includes cleaning or maintenance, and you have noticed some small little task around the church that you've been meaning to get to, before July 13 would be a fantastic time. Contact Erin to coordinate.)

Putting the "Episcopalian" back in our Sunday processions

Serving as Crucifer now 90% less hazardous!*

Now that we have an ordained Priest in Charge, it's a good time to bring some good ol' Episcopalian pageantry back to our services.

We're moving the resting place of the processional cross to a spot down the steps from the altar to reduce the possibility of the steps creating a tripping hazard for someone wearing an alb. If that danger was what was keeping you from serving as Crucifer and you'd like to sign up now, please contact Erin in the office with your availability in the coming months.

*The last 10% is up to you.

Got a great cookie recipe?

We’re striking out on finding satisfactory cookies to have at the Open House on July 13, so we’ve decided to tap the great resources we already have.

If you would like to bake a dozen or two of your signature cookies or bite-sized bars for our community-wide celebration, contact Erin in the office or sign up on the sheet in the narthex. In two weeks, we’ll see if we’ve covered our needs, so if you’d like to contribute, don’t wait! (For consistency’s sake, homemade only, please.)

Next Book Club Read: Musical Chairs by Amy Poeppel

GoodReads says, "With her trademark humor, pitch-perfect voice, and sly perspective on the human heart, Amy Poeppel crafts a love letter to modern family life with all of its discord and harmony." A charming summer read with a satisfying ending.

A couple of copies are available in the narthex; also available through PINES at the Harris County Library.

The St. Nicholas Book Club meets on Wednesday, July 10 after Evening Prayer at 5:00 p.m.

Blue Jacket Seeking Owner

A blue men's jacket was found wandering in the church building a couple of weeks ago and has not been claimed. It is sitting forlornly in the north transept, waiting for its owner to come take it home.

If not claimed soon, it will be taken to the nearest shelter to be put up for adoption.

Raising Young Episcopalians through Acolyte Service

If you have children in your home aged 12 and up, they're old enough to serve as acolytes in the Episcopal Church. Acolytes participate in the processionals and recessionals and assist with candle-lighting. They can have duties within the service as well.

This is a great way to immerse your young person in the beautiful rhythms and rituals of Episcopalian worship, as well as a way for them to serve their church family.

Contact Erin in the office to get started.

Childcare Provider Wanted

We are currently seeking a responsible teen or adult to provide childcare in the nursery during Sunday Services and the occasional special event. This is a paid position, and there are training requirements.

Contact the church office to express interest and receive the job description.
